My 600-lb Life: Donald Shelton’s Battled A Rare Disorder
Donald shed 300 pounds after his gastric bypass surgery. He was also able to overcome his addiction to crystal meth and cocaine. However, the former My 600-lb Life suffered from a rare disorder called Guillain-Barre syndrome, in which the person’s immune system battles nerves, resulting in weakness and paralysis. The Texas native ended up in a wheelchair after losing his ability to walk, and it has also affected his dreams of losing more weight.
Donald Continues To Battle Weight Gain
Donald Shelton’s last social media posts show that he’s been trying his best to lose weight despite his condition. He revealed following a strict diet along with his mother. Unfortunately, he deleted most of his online accounts for unknown reasons. His Facebook profile remained inactive for years as well. But he previously made headlines after setting up a $40,000 fundraiser to buy his mom a van. According to the My 600-lb Life alum, the vehicle will be used as a service to people with disabilities at their church.
My 600-lb Life: Is Donald Shelton Married?
Donald has already opened up about his love life. According to the former My 600-lb Life star, he’s not looking for a girlfriend or wife. But he made it clear that he’s been actively going out to have fun. It also appears that he’s prioritizing his health more than anything.
It’s not known if Donald Shelton currently has a job. It’s no secret that his disability has put a major setback in his life. Nevertheless, his journey in the show has inspired many. Some are also hoping that TLC will bring him back for a special episode similar to what they did to the other past patients of Dr. Now.
