Meghan Markle may have had a hand in her pregnancy announcement. The Duchess of Sussex kept it a secret for so long. On Sunday, February 14, Meghan and, her husband, Prince Harry confirmed that they’re expecting their second child. This is joyous news for the couple who suffered a miscarriage last year.

From her dress to the photo, Meghan has strategically planned it. But she knew she had to keep her pregnancy hush-hush. Although Meghan and Harry moved to Los Angeles, they narrowly avoided the paparazzi. Here’s how Meghan was able to keep her baby news a secret for several months.

Meghan Markle kept her pregnancy news out of the public eye

The former senior royals just can’t wait to give baby Archie a sibling. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry kept their pregnancy under wraps for several months. On Friday, February 19, an insider told HollywoodLife how they pulled it off. Of course, it took a little planning.

“She’s been spending most of her time at home the past few months because of the pandemic, but also to avoid the news of her pregnancy getting out,” the inside source told HollywoodLife. “And when she did go out, she always wore coats to hide her bump.”

The 39-year-old surrounded herself with a “very small circle of friends.” Luckily, they never sold her out to the press. She can trust them. But aside from them, no one else knew Meghan was pregnant. Plus, the former Suits star could hide her baby bump by hiding out at home and while video conferencing.

On February 14, a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed the news of Meghan’s pregnancy.

“We can confirm that Archie [Harrington Mountbatten-Windsor] is going to be a big brother,” the statement read. “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”

That same day, the parents released a black-and-white image shot by Misan Harriman. The photo showed Meghan laying on the grass and looking up at Harry. Both expectant parents were barefoot in the shot, which was a first for the royals. She also wore a dress that spoke for itself.

Her pregnancy dress made a “powerful message”

Meghan Markle wore a simple sleeveless dress in the photo. But it made a “powerful message,” according to the designer. She wore a custom-made gown that was made by the brand’s creative director, Wes Gordon. Fans know that Meghan loves to use her clothes to make a statement.

“I made [the dress] for her when she was pregnant with Archie, so almost two years ago,” Gordon told The Telegraph. “There’s a reality, it’s 2021, and we have a world to save, right?”

The director of Caroline Herrera revealed his commitment to “sustainable fabrics.”

“That’s why I think what Meghan did is such a powerful message,” Gordon continued. “She wore a dress that’s no less beautiful because it’s two years old… it makes her feel no less special or no less happy.”

Meghan has worn Gordon’s designs before. She wrote that she is “obsessed” with his “beautiful, glorious, effortlessly sexy” designs on her old lifestyle blog, The Tig, in 2014. A year later, she sat in the front row at his fashion show for his namesake label. Meghan has also worn designers from Caroline Herrera for most of her royal outings.
