Robby Steven

With the Elimination Chamber just over a week away, WWE Smackdown is moving forward with full force. WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns kicked off the show along with WWE official Adam Pearce. Pearce announced that the winner of the Smackdown chamber match becomes the #1 contender to the Universal Title. Seth Rollins made his return on Friday Night Smackdown but was ignored by many WWE Superstars. In response, Rollins attacked Cesaro for the disrespect.

WWE Smackdown: IC Title Match

5) Big E defeated Shinsuke Nakamura by DQ,
Big E. came out to make an open challenge on WWE Smackdown. Cedric Alexander came out to accept but was denied by Big E for failing repeatedly in recent weeks. Shinsuke Nakamura then appears as we cut to a break. Back from commercial as Nakamura gets a two count before Big E comes on the offensive. Big E sets Nakamura up on the apron and connects with a big splash. They return to the ring as Nakamura delivers multiple strikes before hitting a knee strike from the second rope. Big E blocks Nakamura’s Kinshasa before Alexander interferes for the DQ.

Match Analysis: Despite having the potential to be a very good match, it was cut way too short. Since it was strictly for storyline purposes, Take a Pass. *1/2

WWE: Elimination Chamber qualifier

4) Rey Mysterio & Dominick Mysterio vs King Corbin & Sami Zayn
The winning team will both advance to the Elimination Chamber. Rey and Dominik start quickly on WWE Smackdown as the action heads outside the ring. Dominick hits suicide dive on Zayn before Rey drags Corbin out with a headscissors before a commercial break. Back from commercial and Rey makes a hot tag to Dominik  Dominik has his way with Zayn before Corbin gets the tag and uses his power to get back on the offensive. After a comeback from the Mysterios, Zayn hits the Helluva Kick on Dominik for the win.

Match Analysis: Decent tag match but nothing that hasn’t been seen on WWE Smackdown. The Mysterio vs Corbin feud is getting old but at least Zayn is still fun. Skim It. **1/4

Women’s Action

3) Baley defeated Liv Morgan
Liv Morgan starts off with a shotgun dropkick to Baley before sweeping her into the second rope. Morgan connects with a missile dropkick for a two count as Baley retreats to the outside. Morgan attempts a leaping dive by Bayley sidesteps as Liv smacks her face and shoulder on the barricade. Bayley continues to work the shoulder but Morgan is able to hit an enziguri and then a double knee breaker. Billy Kae appears causing an accidental distraction leading to Bayley getting the win.

Match Analysis: This was actually a fun little match. Bayley is legit and Liv Morgan is coming into her own. I’m not into the Billie Kae angle but the Riott Squad and Bayley typically deliver. Skim It. **1/4

WWE Smackdown: Tag Team Action

2) The Street Profits vs Otis & Chad Gable
The Street Profits are looking to get back into the tag team title picture. Angelo Dawkins and Chad Gable start off with some fun chain wrestling before Monte Ford enters the ring and shows off his athletic ability. After Gable is able to ground Ford, Dawkins makes the tag and brings back the power to the ring. Otis gets the hold tag as he steamrolls through both Street Profits. Ford connects with a high frog splash for the win.

Match Analysis: Fun tag match that gets the Street Profits back on track. Otis and Gable are just another team at this point, but they worked well together. Skim It. **1/2

WWE: Main Event

1) Daniel Bryan and Cesaro defeated Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode
Main Event time as the winning team has both members enter the Elimination Chamber match. Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode get the early advantage before the action heads outside. Bryan attempts a suicide dive but hits Cesaro instead as we get a commercial break. We return with Ziggler and Roode continuing the punishment on Bryan.

After Dolph Ziggler is knocked off the top rope, Daniel Bryan leads with a missile dropkick. Robert Roode gets the tag in to cut off Bryan. Cesaro with the hot tag and unloads on both men, getting a 2 count on Ziggler after a big uppercut. Cesaro outs the Big Swing on Ziggler before locking in the Sharpshooter for the win. After the match, Jey Uso, Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin beat down Bryan and Cesaro. Kevin Owens appears and clears the ring.

Match Analysis: A much-needed good main event after a lackluster in-ring product on this week’s WWE Smackdown. It’ll b interesting to see what happens at the Elimination Chamber but this was Worth a Watch. ***1/4
