Tom Cruise ranted about COVID-guidelines on the set of his new movie. Now, Leah Remini responded to his rant. His reaction was praised by most of Hollywood. However, the former King of Queens star doesn’t feel the same way. Earlier this week, audio of the actor and producer lashing out at the crew leaked online.
He’s received a long list of fans. But the actress doesn’t feel the same way. She openly slammed the Church of Scientology through her A&E documentary Scientology and the Aftermath. So, it comes as no surprise that Remini doesn’t feel the same way about Cruise as the rest of the internet does.
Leah Remini calls out Mission: Impossible star’s “psychotic rant”
She penned a letter to whistleblowing blog The Underground Bunker. In the letter, Leah Remini claimed that the “psychotic rant” was only a publicity stunt for Tom Cruise. She referred to the action star as “an abusive dictator just as he was taught by his guru David Miscavige,” who’s the leader of the Church of Scientology, in which Tom Cruise is a member.
“Tom does not care about the families of his crew; this is all for publicity,” Remini wrote. “Tom does not believe in family values. I mean, how anyone is falling for this is just mind-blowing. I would bet that Tom had this rant written for him and had his Scientology assistant record and release it. Hearing a rich actor with enormous power to address his crew in this way is a sign of weakness and a deeply troubled person.”
Remini claims that Cruise thinks Hollywood can’t make movies without him. She said that he sees himself as “the godlike figure Tom believes he is.” The A&E star doesn’t think that Cruise can control the way that “films are being made, even if he seems to think so.” She also revealed that “anyone who is working in Hollywood today is working under strict COVID guidelines.”
During his rant on the Christopher McQuarrie-directed Paramount movie Mission: Impossible 7, Cruise called the production the “gold standard.” He feels they’re the reason why Hollywood has resumed filming amid the coronavirus pandemic. Tom Cruise was angry after two crew members stood next to each other at a monitor. The film’s star threatened to shut down production if it happened again.
Tom Cruise wears “less safe PPE mask” after the on-set meltdown
It would appear that Tom Cruise would wear the right protective mask that experts suggested. The 58-year-old actor wore a “protective” mask on the set of his new movie. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), it offers little to no protection.
“The mask Tom’s wearing in almost all the pics from various Mission: Impossible 7 sets is NOT recommended by the CDC and the agency actually warned against wearing any mask with valves like the one [Tom’s] rocking,” TMZ reported.
The mask that Tom wears is from Jupiter gear. The company claims that the mask prevents droplets from escaping. But the CDC claimed that “this type of mask may not prevent you from spreading COVID-19 to others.” It contains a hole that allows the “droplets to escape and reach others.”
Now that Cruise has been caught wearing the wrong mask, some fans labeled him a hypocrite. In the meantime, his meltdown has fans divided. Some praised him for taking COVID-19 regulations seriously. Others have argued that his explicit rant went too far.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Cruise’s rant was just? Sound off below.
