Brazilian President Jair Boslonaro, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and Polish President Andrzej Duda – also congratulated Biden. All of the leaders waited for the U.S. Election to become official before contacting the Democratic winner.

Vladimir Putin acknowledges Biden’s victory

On Tuesday, Putin simply stated that he “wished the president-elect every success” and he was “ready for interaction and contact,” per USA Today. The Kremlin is aware of President-elect Joe Biden’s “sharp anti-Russian rhetoric,” but it praised his remarks on arms control. They previously said that they would wait until the election results were official before congratulating the winner.

Putin was one of the many leaders who didn’t acknowledge Biden’s victory at first. Meanwhile, President Donald Trump still refuses to concede the election. Republic lawmakers have followed in Trump’s footsteps and have not publicly congratulated Biden. Putin’s comments come after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell congratulated both Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on their election win.

Putin’s remarks come as cybersecurity experts blamed Russian-state hackers for a months-long digital spying operation that targeted U.S. corporations, government, and military bases. However, Russia denies any involvement, including with the 2016 election.

Bolsonaro also congratulated Joe Biden

In addition, Bolsonaro addressed Joe Biden as the president. According to NPR, he sends his best wishes and hopes to the United States. López Obrador also congratulated Biden. During his morning news conference, he revealed that he sent the president-elect a letter. He hopes to work with Biden on migration issues.

Many U.S. allies and other countries immediately congratulated Biden after his victory. U.S. Media outlets called the race on Saturday, November 7. Chinese President XI Jinping congratulated Biden in late November. That came more than a week after India’s Narendra Modi and Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu called Biden personally. Both Modi and Netanyahu are Trump’s allies.

Polish President keeps the congrats going

Polish President Andrzej Duda congratulated Joe Biden. He wrote a letter to the president-elect and posted it on his official website.

“Following the vote of the Electoral College, I would like to congratulate you on successfully concluding the election process to become the 46th President of the United States, and wish you a very successful term,” Duda wrote in his letter.

He also added that “Polish-American relations have become a pillar of ever-growing importance for the Transatlantic and European security and stability,” noting that the Polish-US relationship “is the shining beacon of what a true strategic Partnership is, and what can be achieved while working together.”

Duda concluded his letter by writing that he was looking forward “to all the meetings and discussions we will have in the future, both in the bilateral format, as well as a wider international forum. In that regard, allow me to extend a warm invitation for you to visit Poland.”

Six weeks later after the 2020 presidential election, Trump fails to admit defeat. What are your thoughts on these world leaders just acknowledging Biden’s victory? Sound off below.
