How Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Feels About Biden’s Agenda

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shared how she feels about President-elect Joe Biden’s White House agenda. She called out the Biden administration. Last week, she argued that his team lacks a “cohesive vision” that made their agenda look “a little hazy.”

Why Ocasio-Cortez feels this way

On Wednesday, December 9, the New York progressive spoke to reporters at the Capitol. During the conversation, she revealed that Biden’s incoming Cabinet needs to have “a more cohesive vision.”

“You have an individual appointment here, an individual appointment there,” Ocasio-Cortez said, as per The Hill. “We can wrestle about whether they are bold enough or ambitious enough, especially given the uncertainty and what kind of Senate we’re going to have.”

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez feels that Biden is “a little hazy.” She wants to know what the “overall vision” of his plan I going to be. Ocasio-Cortez told reporters that she wants to understand “the overall message” from Biden’s team “in this entire Cabinet put together.”

“We have a person who has a more conservative history, that’s one thing, but what is the mission that they are being given in their individual agency, whether it’s Transportation, Defense, OMB [Office of Management and Budget], etc.?” she continued. “What is the mandate here?”

The Congresswoman hopes that these questions will be answered, moving forward. This comes after Biden promised to have the “most diverse Cabinet” in American history. He already announced his nominees for several top administrative positions. Some of Biden’s picks include California Attorney General Xavier Becerra for secretary of Department of Health and Human Services.

Biden already received pushback from Republicans. Biden’s nominee to lead the Pentagon – retired Gen. Lloyd Austin – already received bipartisan criticism since he’s a recently retired military officer. Biden will require approval from Congress to have a position less than seven years since retiring from the military along with the standard Senate confirmation.

Alexandria says Republican unknowingly voted for Green New Deal

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez also recently said that Republicans have voted for the Green New Deal in “bits and pieces.” The Democrat spoke with Fox News’ Jason Donner. She shared her thoughts on what a House majority means for the Green New deal and other progressive ideas.

“For me, when I think about how we navigate through this body, it tends to be questions of not just, it’s less about compromising the what, and more about navigating and adapting the how,” Ocasio-Cortez said.

“This year with the Green New Deal for example…while we haven’t necessarily been able to push for a full committee hearing for, you know, as one example, what we’ve been able to do is take off bits and pieces of the legislative language and put them into must-pass pieces of legislation,” she continued.

“And so a lot of Republicans don’t know that they have voted for a Green New Deal language, but they have,” she added.

However, Ocasio-Cortez added that Democrats no longer have the “luxury” of allowing members of Congress to “storm off” and vote on legislation. She admits that they “talk to each other more.” Intraparty fighting previously broke out with the amount of Democrats rising in the House. Some members of Congress blamed the “defund the police” and socialism movements.
