Taylor Swift is slowly opening up about her relationship. The singer just confirmed that her boyfriend is the mysterious co-writer on the Folklore album. There’s nothing more romantic than working on a project with your significant other. While people romanticize the idea, it rarely happens.

Taylor rarely mixes business with pleasure. It didn’t go well when she dated Calvin Harris. As fans know, the two collaborated on the hit song “This Is What You Came For.” Her alias at the time was “Nils Lorens Sjöberg.” The “Shake It Up” singer decided to give it another go with her British boyfriend.

She revealed that he’s credited on her latest album under the pseudonym “William Bowery.”

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn wrote songs together

The 30-year-old singer confirmed the mystery co-writer in the Disney+ documentary, Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, which premiered on Wednesday, November 25. The name “William Bowery” was credited on the two tracks, “Betty” and “Exile.” Some of them even speculated if it was her longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn. Taylor Swift confirmed the rumors in her new project.

“There’s been a lot of discussion about William Bowery and his identity because it’s not a real person,” Swift said in the documentary. “So William Bowery is Joe, as we know. And Joe plays the piano beautifully and he’s always just playing and making things up and kind of creating things.

Swift revealed that Alwyn even sang part of the duet in “Exile.” In addition, “The Favourite” actor even wrote the “entire piano part.” Swift’s representative also confirmed to CNN that Alwyn is in reference to the 29-year-old actor.

Folklore dropped in July, much to the surprise of her fans. Swift secretly recorded the album while in quarantine. She collaborated with Aaron Dessner from The National, Jack Antonoff from Bleachers, and Justin Vernon from Bon Iver. Folklore is Swift’s more mature and mellow compilation of works compared to her previous efforts.

“Cardigan” singer talked about her British boyfriend

This revelation comes after Taylor Swift opened up about her private relationship with Joe Alwyn. In a joint interview with Paul McCartney for Rolling Stone, she spoke candidly about her man. She admitted that the Folklore track “Peace” describes her personal life because it’s like “carving out a human life within a public life, and how scary that can be when you do fall in love and you meet someone.”

“Especially if you’ve met someone who has a very grounded, normal way of living,” Swift explained. “I oftentimes, in my anxieties, can control how I am as a person and how normal I act and rationalize things, but I cannot control if there are 20 photographers outside in the bushes and what they do and if they follow our car and if they interrupt our lives.”

When McCartney asked Swift if her “partner” understands her way of thinking, she said “Absolutely.”

“I think that in knowing him and being in the relationship I am in now, I have definitely made decisions that have made my life feel more like a real-life and less like just a storyline to be commented on in tabloids,” Swift added.

The couple started dating in 2016. However, they did not make their relationship public until their first sighting in May 2017. Swift has penned several love songs about Alwyn on her 2017 album Reputation and 2019 Lover. But for the most part, the two entertainers keep their relationship private.
