‘Sister Wives’ Kody & Robyn Brown Making Bank From Season 21 Despite Exit
Could Kody and Robyn Brown still make bank off Season 21 of Sister Wives despite being absent? They opted not to film this year with their ex-wives, which was fine with most viewers. Yet, many wondered how they would make money, which they needed to support their lavish lifestyle. Now, it seems they may not need to worry. Keep reading for more details.
Kody & Robyn Brown Live Large
When Kody Brown met Robyn, she was a divorced mother with three children and heavily in debt. What Sister Wives viewers saw was the courtship, wedding, and meshing of the plural family. Kody had three other wives, Christine, Meri, and Janelle, as well as twelve children plus one on the way. He also shared one home with his wives and kids, but the addition of Robyn and her three shifted the dynamic. It was clear that she was the favorite, although it took almost twenty seasons and three divorces for Kody to admit that.

Season 21 is now airing, but Kody and Robyn are not on it. Rather, it features his ex-wives and their journey to reconnect. Rumors are flying that they may get their own show, but now there is a new theory. Are they still making money off the TLC series, given that they are heavily discussed and even featured? A Reddit thread was started to discuss whether they are getting paid for using old footage of them. There have been many flashbacks and conversations that are heavily Kody-centric. However, one Sister Wives fan had this to say:
- my understanding is that contracts for reality tv are not so generous about this – you get paid for the filming not the airing (or if you’re a minor, you don’t get paid directly yourself at all!). same way they can show old footage of the kids but not collect new because they are no longer contracted to produce new footage
Main Cast Members
Kody and Robyn Brown are not like the Sister Wives kids, and that was noted. They were one of the five core cast members. Therefore, the contracts they had may have been far different. When they left and opted not to be on Season 21, they may have made a small deal to use their likeness. Or a deal to talk about them and still get some money from it. Kody is a shrewd businessman, and he does not like to miss out on anything. Time will tell if he and Robyn pop up somewhere in the season or start a show of their own.
