Largest Friday the 13th collaboration on YouTube breaks new ground

When it comes to the horror movie community, there are certain franchises that rise above the rest. One name that is synonymous with horror fandom is Jason Voorhees and the Friday the 13th series. From the original film in 1980, to the remake released in 2009, Jason and his hockey mask have laid claim to being an icon.

Friday the 13th: An icon celebrated

The next Friday the 13th in 2021 will take place this August, and in celebration, several YouTube channels have come together to celebrate the occasion in a unique way. Six different YouTube channels have linked together, and each week on Friday, they release their reviews for the next sequel in the franchise. Starting back on May 28, each channel dropped their take on the original Friday the 13th which was released in 1980 and directed by Sean S. Cunningham.

Good Reel Hunting, comprised of Brett Stuart and Brad Health, come together to not only give their duel take on each film, but also preface their reviews with skits linking back to each movie in the Friday the 13th franchise. The House of the Living Dead channel, anchored by Chris Snyder, Destiny Faulkner, and Chad Sumner, come together each week for live watch-along streaming events on their channel. Their unique take and chemistry provide for an entertaining watch and insight into the Friday the 13th films, which each perspective being different from one another.

A Unique Perspective

Chase Moser of Moser Movie Reviews using his background as a film school graduate to dissect each film, giving his personal thoughts on the movie as well as the technical side. Moser’s use of LED lighting makes the videos pop and catch the eye of the viewer. Filthy Dan’s Film Discussion introduces viewers to an entertaining skit at the start of each video, as Dan plays the role of both Tommy Jarvis (the main character of three entries in the series) as well as a doctor. What follows is an in-depth analysis from Filthy Dan that is a must-watch for fans of Jason and Friday the 13th.

Nic Cooling gives you his no-nonsense thoughts about each film, not holding back in the process while finding ways to get you to think a bit different about Jason and his adventures. Reviews and Rankings with Robby Sobel breaks down each Friday the 13th film using pop-up graphics and a unique editing style, while also giving edgy commentary on the sex appeal and kills of each movie. The “Koolest Kill” and “Deadliest Diva” awards are giving at the end of each review to the most attractive woman and craziest demise.
