WWE Smackdown 3/12: Rating and Ranking Every Match

Robby Steven

The Fastlane PPV is only a week away and WWE Smackdown is moving forward.  An 8-man tag team match is scheduled, Cesaro will be taking on Murphy, as well as other action.

Each match on WWE Smackdown will be given a brief review and analysis. Each match will be given a rating and be ranked from worst to best.

Matches Ranked from Worst to Best

4) Tamina & Natalya d. Sasha Banks & Bianca Belair
Tamina and Natalia exchange tags to get the best of Sasha Banks early on. Banks is able to make a comeback by arm dragging Natalia out of the ring. Natalya gets back in the ring and gains control with a suplex that gets a two-count. Hot tag to Bianca Belair who hits a spinebuster on Natalya but the referee is distracted by Reginald on the outside. Reginald runs in the ring but is chased off by Banks. Tamina rolls up a distracted Belair for the win. After the match, Belair blames Banks for the loss.

Match Analysis: The Sasha Banks/Bianca Belair feud is just not doing much for me. They are trying but it inserting Reginald into the top women’s program seems like a mistake. Take a Pass. *1/2

Rollins’ revenge

3) Cesaro d. Murphy
Seth Rollins arrives to get a better look at the action. The Swiss Superman connects with a hard boot to the face as Murphy regroups to the outside. Cesaro goes for a charge on the outside but runs into a high knee by Murphy. Big Swing by Cesaro before Rollins runs in for the DQ. Rollins beats down Cesaro to close the segment.

Match Analysis: The match had potential but was too short to judge. Skim It for the story enhancement. [NR]

WWE Smackdown: 8-Man Tag Action

2) Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, & The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) d. Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode, Otis, & Chad Gable
Chad Gable hits a double under hook bridge suplex for a two-count as the heel team rotate tags to work over Dominik. A cluster emerges before e Mysterios take out the Alpha Academy and Ford hits the frog splash on Roode for the win.

Match Analysis: Solid tag match to help move along multiple feuds. Nothing to go out of your way to see, but decent enough. Skim It. **1/2

WWE Smackdown: Main Event

1) IC Title Match: Big E d. Sami Zayn
Sami Zayn bypasses King Corbin and accepts an open challenge made by Big E. Knees to the gut by Big E who breaks free from a Zayn headlock and makes him eat an elbow. Hard whip into the corner by Big E who runs into a knee from Zayn. Zayn then gets caught in two overhead belly-to-belly suplexes before retreating outside. Big E is having none of that as he heads outside only to get caught by Zayn before a commercial. Back from the break as both men head to the top rope before Zayn hits a sunset flip powerbomb for a two-count.

Samy Zayn strikes Big E with multiple slaps to the face but Big E connects with a hard lariat and then gets the win after the Big Ending. After the match, Appolo Crews attacks Big E from behind.

Match Analysis: Good IC Title defense from Big E with Sami Zayn always a reliable hand. Best match on the show by far. The angle with Appolo Crews is picking up steam and he looks like a legit star right now. Worth a Watch. ***1/4
