Sister Wives star Kody Brown faced tons of criticism regarding his decision not to come to his daughter Ysabel’s back surgery in New Jersey. According to the 54-year-old father, he was concerned about contracting Covid-19 at the time. There have been speculations regarding his refusal to go. One of which is avoiding massive expenses for his daughter. However, some fans on social media pointed out another possible reason for his absence.
Sister Wives: Kody Brown’s Financial Struggles
Kody Brown has had multiple financial struggles over the years. It also appears money played a significant role in why they couldn’t build on their Coyote Pass land. The Sister Wives star stays discreet about his job outside the show. Though he has been spotted multiple times at gun shows in recent years. And with the departures of Meri, Janelle, and Christine, some fans believe things will only get more difficult for the family patriarch.
Season 18 also shows how miserable he has become as he fails to get his family back together. However, the father of 18 still makes efforts for his children behind cameras. He has attended their big milestones, such as Savanah’s high school graduation in May and Gwendlyn’s wedding in July. But his absence at Ysabel’s major back surgery in New Jersey remains a big question.
Kody’s Possible Big Reason For Missing Ysabel’s Surgery
Sister Wives fans from Reddit shared their thoughts on a new theory about why Kody skipped his daughter’s back surgery. According to the poster, Ysabel’s operation was on September 30th, while Robyn’s birthday was on October 9th. “According to Kody, he would have to quarantine for two weeks, which means he wouldn’t have been present for Robyn’s birthday. Thoughts?” the poster added.
Others were surprised about the speculation and said that it’s highly possible, especially with Kody’s favoritism towards his fourth wife becoming more obvious during the time.

Sister Wives: Ysabel Brown Continues To Show Love To Her Father
Despite missing her surgery, Ysabel has shown love to her father. In June, the 20-year-old daughter shared throwback photos with her dad for Father’s Day. However, she made it clear last season that they weren’t as close as some would think and admitted that she would miss her mother more than him.
At this point, Ysabel Brown has been living happily with Christine and her future stepfather, David Woolley. They’re currently engaged and are expected to tie the knot in October.
