Counting On fans have seen the changes in the Duggar family in recent years. Some of the adults are starting to step away from their beliefs, especially when it comes to their dress codes. It also appears that the number of adults who want to expose the IBLP is slowly increasing. However, one tradition has been a staple in the Duggar family, even for those who no longer live with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar.
Counting On: The Duggars Continue To Follow Homeschooling
Homeschooling is still followed by the super-sized family, which is a method promoted by the IBLP. Due to this, Jim Bob and Michelle implemented it for all of their kids, even during the early days of the reality show. Back in May, the Duggar parents celebrated Jackson and Johannah’s graduation from high school through homeschooling programs.
It’s unclear what the siblings will do after finishing high school. Most of the Duggars didn’t attend college. Joseph studied at Crown Bible College in Knoxville, Tennessee, though he went back to his father’s construction business after one year.
How Did Homeschool Turn Out For The Duggars?
Users from Reddit discussed how homeschooling played out for members of the Duggar family. Some mentioned that many of them ended up being unemployed. Others also pointed out some of the Duggar boys ended up following in their father’s real estate business, while the married girls became housewives and utilized their fame from Counting On to promote different products online. Several Reddit users also mentioned that Michelle and Jim Bob didn’t have good educational programs for their kids.
- “I’d bet a lot that the majority of the kids were taught the absolute minimum like reading, writing, and basic math,” one person said.
- “Most of the learning was just the kids working in workbooks on their own,” another user added.
Counting On: Some Duggars Have Stepped Away From The Tradition
Several Duggars have left their homeschooling tradition. One of them is Jill Dillard, who enrolled her oldest son, Israel, in a public school. Jinger Vuolo has also revealed that she will not implement the same program for her kids. Counting On alums Jim Bob and Michelle don’t have any comments about their kids’ decisions. It also appears they’ve been on good terms after they were spotted at recent family get-togethers.
