WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House is in the books as the stars of the black and gold brand march towards the Great American Bash. KUSHIDA held an open challenge for the cruiserweight title, while Breezango did battle with Imperium. Tomasso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher faced the Grizzled Young Veterans in a tornado tag team match. The big story kicking off the show was the return of Samoa Joe, who excepted an enforcer position to help GM William Regal run the show.
Every match on WWE NXT will include a highlight moment, what the storyline progression is, and a final analysis. Each match will be given a star rating and be ranked from worst to best.
Matches Ranked from Worst to Best
4) Breezango (Tyler Breeze & Fandango) d. Imperium (Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner)
Highlight Moment: Imperium fought off Breezango to start before using their ground game and power to get on the advantage. Imperium are knocked to the outside allowing Tyler Breeze and Fandango to connect with double dives to the floor. The match goes back and forth between both sides until the closing stretch. Fandango rolls Barthel up for two-count and then attempts to make the tag to Breeze. Barthel cuts off a tag attempt by Fandango hits a suplex before tagging in Breeze. Breeze enters but is met with a closeline by Aichner. Aichner then goes for a suplex but Breeze reverses into a small package for the upset win. After the match, Imperium beat down both members of Breezango.

Storyline Progression: WALTER has made it clear to Barthel and Aichner that losing is not acceptable. With Imperium taking the L, only time will tell what their leader will have to say.
Final Analysis: Solid tag match with a shocking ending. It’s nice to see Breezango get a win and it’ll be interesting to see where Imperium goes moving forward. Skim It. **3/4
WWE NXT: Open Challenge
3) KUSHIDA d. Trey Baxter
Highlight Moment: KUSHID’s open challenge was excepted by the debuting Trey Baxter, otherwise known as Blake Christian from IMPACT Wrestling. KUSHIDA gained an early advantage until Baxter made his comeback. KUSHIDA gets knocked to the outside as Baxter lands a moonsault plancha. Back in the ring, Baxter heats up by countering an attack into a standing Spanish Fly. Baxter heads to the outside before nailing a springboard 450 for a two-count. Baxter goes back up to the top rope but is caught in the Hoverboard Lock as KUSHIDA sits down into faceplant. KUSHIDA then locks in the Hoverboard Lock and gets the submission win.

Storyline Progression: KUSHIDA’s open challenge angle continues, as he faces some of the best young cruiserweights in the world. After the match, Kyle O’Reilly made his way to the ring to challenge KUSHIDA, which was accepted.
Final Analysis: Very good match and a great debut for Trey Baxter who shined even in defeat. Worth a Watch. ***1/2
Women’s tag action
2) Raquel Gonzalez & Dakota Kai d. Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter
Highlight Moment: Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter returned to WWE NXT and did so with a vengeance. The tag team moves by Kacy and Kayden were off the charts, including a neckbreaker-450 combo that got a near fall. A low-angle neck vice into a dropkick by Kacy and Kayden was also done smooth. Kacy then bounced off Kayden on the outside into a flying headscissors to Raquel. On the outside, Raquel slams both Kacy and Kayden into the plexiglass barricade before the match moves into the ring. Kacy attempts to leap off the top rope but is met with a kick from Kai before the GTK is enough for the win.

Storyline Progression: Raquel Gonzalez might be the WWE NXT Women’s Champion but that isn’t stopping her from continuing her team with Dakota Kai. For Kacy Catanzaro & Kayden Carter, they might have lost, but they definitely shined in the spotlight.
Final Analysis: Really fun match that acted as a popcorn fun tag match, and there’s nothing wrong with that. Worth a Watch. ***1/2
WWE NXT: Main Event
1) Tornado Tag Team Match: Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher d. The Grizzled Young Veterans
Highlight Moment: The action starts hot on the outside as Ciampa and Thatcher gain control early. Back in the ring, the Grizzled Young Veterans get the upper hand until Ciampa and Thatcher make a comeback with a series of closelines and avalanche charges into the corner. As the commercial break hits, the GYV take the action to the outside, throwing Ciampa to the announce table. Back from the break as the GYV hit a double team dropkick/flatliner to Thatcher. Ciampa runs in to make the safe and put the boots to the GYB before hitting a second rope Air Raid crash for a two-count on Drake.

Chop exchange by Ciampa and Drake on the apron before Zack Gibson appears. Ciampa gets put on Gibsob’s shoulders allowing Drake to hit a suicide dive into a modified Doomsday Device. Gibson and Thatcher have an uppercut exchange in the middle of the ring before Drake heads into the ring with a running dropkick. Elevated backstabber by GYV gets a two as Ciampa makes the save. On the outside, Gibson backdrops Ciampa through the announce table cover board. Gibson then attempts a powerbomb on the table but Ciampa reversed it into an Air Raid Crash. Back in the ring, Ciampa hits the Fairy Tale Ending before Thatcher joins in for a double submission for the win.
We can only think about @NXTCiampa's surgically repaired neck. This match is BRUTAL. #WWENXT @JamesDrake_GYT @ZackGibson01 pic.twitter.com/MZYhCQO9rU

Tornado Tag Action
Storyline Progression: Both Ciampa/Thatcher and The Grizzled Young Veterans have been at each other’s throats in an attempt to get a shot at the tag team titles.
Final Analysis: A physical match that allowed everyone to shine with the team of Ciampa and Thatcher getting the win. Ciampa is legit one of the best in the world and Thatcher can more than hold his own. Great stuff. Must-Watch. ****1/4
