Did Covid kill Home & Family? Fans of Hallmark’s Home & Family are just learning that the weekday show will be ending at the end of Season 9. What do we know about this dramatic change?
Hallmark’s Home & Family Ending At Season 9
On Tuesday, Hallmark announced that they would end Home & Family. According to Variety, a spokesperson for the network made the surprising announcement. “The ninth and current season of ‘Home & Family’ will be the series’ last.” The statement also thanks co-hosts Debbie Matenopoulos and Cameron Mathison “for their creativity, hard work and dedication.”
The weekday series, which was nominated for six Daytime Emmys, features cooking, DIY, crafts, pets, lifestyle, and interviews with Hallmark stars. Over the years, fans enjoyed the revolving group of experts include Kym Douglas, Ken Wingard, Maria Provenzano, Lawrence Zarian, and Tamera Mowry-Housley. Don’t forget pet adoption expert Larissa Wohl.

Is Covid Responsible For Ending Show?
Is the Home & Family cancelation due to Covid? Because they film in Los Angeles, they have been on hiatus off and on since the pandemic began last Spring. When they did air the show, the hosts, and experts, were all social distancing. It was a bit awkward. In addition, most of the actors being interviewed did so from home.
Moreover, this continued situation doesn’t have a predictable end date. Hallmark did not share why they made this decision, but they may have decided that this is not going to be a sustainable format for the near future, and just decided to pull the plug.
What Will Replace Home & Family?
Now, the big question is what show will Hallmark air when this series is done? As of now, there is nothing in the works. Hallmark may just replace the show with more daytime programming. Currently, they air the Golden Girls, Frasier, and Reba.
Many fans have wondered if they would just air older Hallmark movies during this timeslot. But, it does not look like that is going to happen right now.
Could Cameron Mathison Return To Murder She Baked?
A lot of Hallmark mystery fans love Cameron Mathison in Home & Family. However, they want to see him back on the popular mystery series, Murder She Baked. Based on the Joanne Fluke cozy mystery series, Cameron starred alongside Alison Sweeney.
Although Sweeney stars in the Chronicle Mysteries, a series she helped create, fans would love her back in Eden Lake, Minnesota, running her sweet bakery and solving crimes. So would Cameron Mathison! Back in 2019, he said that if the stars should “align,” perhaps they can make more of the tasty mysteries.
That could certainly be some consolation for the cancelation of this delightful daytime show.
