The Los Angeles Lakers continue to struggle amid the absence of Anthony Davis. The team recently had a tough loss against the Phoenix Suns. Now, the Lakers are facing another problem as Marc Gasol is reportedly going to miss upcoming games due to the NBA Health and Safety Protocols. This left LeBron James, Markieff Morris, and Montrezl Harrell the only big guys on the team. However, without Davis and Gasol, the Lakers might struggle even more with their offense.
Lakers Star Marc Gasol Out Due To Health & Safety Protocols
According to reports, three-time NBA All-Star Marc Gasol will miss upcoming games due to health and safety protocols. This makes Gasol the third player in the Lakers to miss several games due to the same reason. Apparently, Dennis Schroder and Alex Caruso both missed several games due to contact tracing. Fortunately, the two never got tested positive for Covid-19. Meanwhile, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel said that he can’t provide more details about Gasol’s absence. “It changes things a lot for us,” Vogel said. “All I can really say at this point is that he’s out for health and safety protocols. We’re going to start Montrezl and have a next-man-up mentality,” he added.
The Lakers Continue To Struggle
The Los Angeles Lakers dominated early in the season. However, as the second half of the season approaches, the Lakers seemed to struggle. The team was defeated by the Phoenix Suns recently. LeBron James tried to carry the team with 38 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists. However, it wasn’t enough to defeat the Suns. The Suns defeated the Lakers with a score of 104-114. Meanwhile, Devin Booker has been putting on a show lately. He also replaced injured Anthony Davis in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game.
NBA: Anthony Daivs Is Still “On Track” Ahead Of His Return
According to Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel, Anthony Davis is still on track on his four-week return plan with the Lakers. Apparently, Davis suffered from Achilles and calf injuries, which puts the Lakers in a very rough spot. However, Davis was recently seen practicing in a very light effort with the Lakers, showing how determined he is to finally return. During an interview, Davis said that he feels like he’s ready to get back on the floor. However, he made it clear that he always listens to his medical team and coaches. “You’ve got those guys around you to say ‘not yet. Let’s do a little bit more rehab and make sure it’s 100% healed before we go out there,'” Davis said.
The Los Angeles Lakers will face the Sacramento Kings on March 4, 2021.
