James Harden finally accomplished his goal of getting traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Many are having doubts about Harden’s impact with the Nets. Some are making fun of what their offense would look like. Fans have been throwing jokes on who’s going to take the last shot. Now, Harden finally makes his Nets debut and he did not disappoint. The 2017–18 NBA MVP surprised the fans with his performance despite having almost no practice with the team.
NBA: James Harden Dominates In First Game With The Nets
James Harden made history in his debut with the Brooklyn Nets. He was named as the seventh in the history of the NBA to record a triple-double in his first game with a team. Harden started where he left off by scoring step-back threes and euro steps. Harden also impressed the fans with his performance after having no practice with his new team. However, Harden didn’t need to make some adjustments with his former teammate Kevin Durant. The two know each other’s game very well and they seem to enjoy each other’s company. Harden scored 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists in 40 minutes of playing. The Nets defeated the Orlando Magic with a score of 122-115.
No Kyrie No Problem
Kyrie Irving has been out of the game for quite some time now. He’s been inactive in social media as well. The NBA recently revealed that they fined Kyrie $50,000 and forfeits his salary in his last two games. Meanwhile, the Brooklyn Nets doesn’t seem affected by Kyrie’s absence, especially with Harden’s arrival. Kevin Durant also shows that he can carry the team despite the absence of his backcourt partner. Some of the Nets players are also stepping up while Kyrie is out. One of which is Joe Harris, who scored 17 points in their win against the Orlando Magic. The Nets are already looking good with the Harden-Durant duo. However, they’re expected to become much better when Kyrie returns.
NBA: Kevin Durant Proves That He’s Still One Of The Best Player In The League
NBA analysts speculated that Kevin Durant’s injury will affect his performance on the court. However, Durant has been proving his doubters wrong. He scored 42 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists against the Orlando Magic. Durant is currently in his 10th streak of 25-plus points game, which is a Nets franchise record. He’s also the second player in league history to score 300-plus points in his first ten games with a new team. He scored 307 points, which is a few points short of breaking NBA Legend Wilt Chamberlain’s record. Chamberlain is currently the only player who reached 371 points in his first ten games with the Philadelphia Warriors during the 1959-1960 season, which was also his rookie year.
The Brooklyn Nets will face the Milwaukee Bucks on January 19, 2021.
