Houston Rockets star James Harden has been asking to get traded since the offseason. Despite playing with the Rockets early in the season, Harden still made it clear that he still wants to get traded. Now, Harden’s wish was finally granted by the Rockets. He got traded in a four-team deal, which includes Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, and the Brooklyn Nets. Harden recently went headlines after announcing that the Rockets “can’t be fixed.” Now, the 2017-2018 NBA MVP finally reunites with his former teammate in his preferred trade destination.
NBA: Rockets Sends Harden To Brooklyn Nets
The Houston Rockets finally traded James Harden. They also granted Harden’s wish of landing in his preferred team, which is the Brooklyn Nets. Harden will now team up with his former teammate Kevin Durant. Harden’s arrival in the Nets creates one of the most dangerous big 3 n the league today. However, fans are skeptical about how the Nets’ offense will flow. Apparently, Kyrie Irving and Harden both love isolation plays, where they dribble the ball to beat a defender for an easy score. Fans think that there won’t be a lot of playmaking when Harden and Kyrie are both on the floor.
Rockets Received A Lot For Harden
After trading James Harden, the Houston Rockets received Victor Oladipo from the Indiana Pacers, Rodions Kurucs from the Brooklyn Nets, and Dante Exum from the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Rockets also received four unprotected first-round picks, which gives them opportunities for a rebuild. Oladipo is expected to lead the Rockets’ offense. Meanwhile, Rockets point guard John Wall throws shades at Harden’s departure. During an interview, Wall said, “It’s only been nine games. Come on, man, you want to jump off the cliff after nine games?” His statement comes after Harden said that the Rockets “can’t be fixed” and he needs to leave the team.
NBA: Pacers & Cavaliers Receives Veteran Players
The Indiana Pacers and the Cleveland Cavaliers also benefited from James Harden’s blockbuster deal. The Pacers received Caris LeVert from the Brooklyn Nets and a 2023 second-round pick from Houston. On the other hand, the Cavaliers received Jarrett Allen and Taurean Prince from the Nets. Several NBA players reacted to Harden’s blockbuster trade. In a social media post, Damian Lillard said, “That’s a lot of firepower in Brooklyn.” CJ McCollum also reacted to the blockbuster deal. “Right before my nap huh. Most entertaining sport in the business”, he said.
The Brooklyn Nets will face the Orlando Magic on January 17, 2021.
