Guardians of the Galaxy comic has shown Peter Quill in a polyamorous relationship. Fans are loving it. Be warned, this story includes spoilers for the Guardians of the Galaxy Comics.

Star-Lord, the self appointed name of the space cowboy had a new issue come out. The main character is revealed to be bisexual. In #9 Peter Quill has become stuck on a planet called Morinus.

When Does Star-Lord Evolve In His Relationship

Star-Lord stuck on Morinus meets two inhabitants, Aradia and Mors. The writer Al Ewing has been slowly evolving the character to more closely resemble his origin in the comics. He’s moved away from the portrayal Chris Pratt has given to the character on the big-screen more and more.

According to Screenrant this includes giving him back some of his gadgets, sense of responsibility, and making his origin more mysterious. In this single issue story, “I shall Make You a Star Lord.” In Guardians of the Galaxy #2, Quinn seemed to have died.

His Element Guns saved him sending him to a parallel universe where he is for over a hundred years. He travels through the Twelve Houses of Morinus working with a couple Aradia and Mors.

Peter Quill Is In Morinus For Over A Hundred Years

Eventually their partnership becomes a relationship between the three of them. At first, he rejects them telling them he wants to get back to Gamora. It becomes clear monogamy is not a concept the two are familiar with. Aradia laid out what she wanted. She said, “our fire is yours, our food is yours. Our bond should be yours too.”

After twelve years on the planet he tells the two, “you’re my home.” He’s given up on ever returning to his dimension. In the Marvel universe nothing is ever happily ever after. Since Peter stole The Gods of New Olympus’ power accidentally to survive in an earlier episode, they come after him. He leaves Aradia and Mors behind to go back to his dimension so Morinus isn’t destroyed.

Will The Story Carry Over To The Big Screen?

There’s no word yet whether Star-Lord’s sexual identity will transfer over to the big screen. The comics after the first movie came out reimagined Peter more like Chris Pratt portrayed him. The change has found Ewing has written elements of LGBTQ into other stories. Recently Hercules and Marvel Boy shared a kiss.

Quill’s comic journey is sad and follows the trend of him losing happiness every time he finds it. Aradia’s last words to him are, “just don’t forget us stranger. Just don’t forget.”

How do you feel about this new direction for Peter? What do you think will happen with Gamora and the others when he returns to his dimension?
