Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving will make his return next season alongside two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant. The two are expected to bring the Nets to their very first NBA championship. With all the pressure in his hands, Kyrie is now focusing more on improving his game instead of attending interviews. Unfortunately, the NBA wasn’t happy about it and required Kyrie and his team to pay a $25,000 fine for not participating in team media availability. Aside from Kyrie’s penalty, his potential teammate, James Harden, recently revealed two new teams for his preferred trade destinations.
NBA: Kyrie Irving Fined $25,000
The NBA released a statement regarding Kyrie Irving’s penalty for not participating in interviews. According to the NBA, “The fines result from Irving’s refusal on several occasions this week to participate in the team media availability.” Typically, the NBA requires its players and teams to set aside one day of their practice to speak with reporters. The global pandemic also limited the number of players that can participate in team media availability. However, the Brookly Nets seemed to have focused too much on practicing with their returning stars, especially Kyrie. Now, Kyrie and the Nets will have to pay a $25,000 fine to the NBA.
Kevin Durant Expects To Play As Center Next Season
During an interview, Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant revealed that he might play the center position next season. According to him, “I think Coach is going to use me in a variety of ways, especially as a small-ball 5 and 4 sometimes.” He also said that he’s ready for whatever his coach throws at him. Nets Head Coach Steve Nash also shared his excitement for next season. According to Nash, “Kevin, with his length, is a matchup problem for everyone.” He also said, “Kyrie Irving’s excellent off the ball. Kevin can play all five positions, and I plan to use him in all five positions.”
Durant can shoot threes and attack the rim with his length and athleticism. There’s not a lot of centers in the league similar to Durant’s playstyle. With Nash planning to switch Durant to a center position, a lot of teams will have problems adjusting their lineups.
NBA: James Harden Reveals Two New Preferred Trade Destinations
There are reports stating that Houston Rockets shooting guard James Harden just added two new teams for his trade destinations. The first one is the Milwaukee Bucks, the team of last season’s MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo. It’s no secret that Giannis has been carrying his team throughout the playoffs. Unfortunately, he doesn’t get a lot of help from his teammates. Adding Harden to the team will instantly make them a contender. The second team that Harden wants is the Miami Heat, the underdog team who faced the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 NBA Finals. Fans believe that the Heat might win it all when they land Harden on the team.
The NBA 2020-21 season will begin on Tuesday, December 22.
