Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is considered one of the best three-point shooters in the league today. He won three NBA championships with the Warriors back in 2015, 2018, and 2017. Curry was also named as the NBA’s Most Valuable Player twice. With Curry returning to the court next season, fans are hoping that he’ll bring the Warriors to the finals once again.
However, his backcourt partner, Klay Thompson, recently got injured and need to leave for the entire 2020-2021 NBA season. With the chances of reaching the finals slowly fading away, Curry doesn’t seem to be bothered. According to him, he wants to play with the Warriors for his entire career.
NBA: Stephen Curry Wants To Be A Warriors For The Rest Of His Career
During an interview, three-time NBA champion Stephen Curry made a statement regarding his future with the Golden State Warriors. According to him, “Wearing the same jersey for as long as I can, that’s a huge goal, for sure.” Curry was also asked if he’s going to tell his wife that he wants to play with the Warriors until he’s 40. He answered, “I have a floating target on that, for sure. Any time I say I want to play up to 40 she’ll definitely give me a little look.”
Curry had several injuries in the past. However, it didn’t stop him to become one of the best scorers in the league. Curry was drafted by the Warriors back in 2009. According to him, playing in the Warriors for the rest of his career would be an “awesome accomplishment.”
Curry Discusses Contract Extension With The Warriors
Stephen Curry only has two years left on his contract with the Golden State Warriors. According to him, he wants to tie the record of his father, Dell Curry, by playing 16 years in the NBA as well. With only two years left remaining on his contract, Curry is now eligible to sign a $244.5 million contract extension with the Warriors. That would bring Curry to his 16th NBA season. However, NBA analysts suggest that Curry must be willing to cut his salary if he wants to surround himself with elite players to win more championships.
NBA: Two Key Players Went Missing In Warriors’ First Day Of Practice
Recently, Warriors General Manager Bob Myers, announced that two players in their team have tested positive for Covid-19. Myers didn’t mention their names. However, two key players of the Warriors went missing on their first day of practice, such as Draymond Green, and their second overall draft pick James Wiseman. According to Warriors Head Coach, Steve Kerr, “I’m not allowed to comment. You can make your own deductions. I know it’s really tricky.” Due to this, fans think that Green and Wiseman were the one’s who got tested positive from Covid-19. With two of their key players missing in action, will the Warriors still become a contender next season?
The NBA 2020-21 season will begin on Tuesday, December 22.
