According to People, a site called Rover.com analyzed a lot of submitted pet names by owners to get the most popular ones. Tiger King had a huge impact on new pet owners. A lot of them named their precious fur baby Carol Baskin. The Coronavirus also influenced many a pet parent. Names like Corona, Rona, and Covi were very popular. Also, some pets were named Dr. Fauci.
The Mandalorian also influenced pet owners to name their new companions. Mando being a very popular name. Also Geralt for the top trending dog name of 2020 from the Netflix show, The Witcher.
In addition to those popular names the most popular male dog names were Max, Charlie, Cooper, Buddy, and Milo. The most popular female dog names were Bella, Luna, Lucy, Daisy, and Lola. Some pet owners were sticking to the classics.
Celebrities Also Had A Heavy Influence On Dog Names
The Tiger King stars weren’t the only celebrities to inspire dog names. Taylor Swift remained a hugely used dog name despite her having three cats. Lizzo and Betty White were also popular dog names this year.

Miley Cyrus who has a ton of animals including seven dogs, horses, and pigs adopted a new dog, Bo. She also spoke to the founder of his doggie home about caring for animals during the pandemic on an Instagram live. More people are learning that animals truly need caring homes until this pandemic passes.
