Everyone is always looking for life hacks to make their lives simpler. This is especially true in the kitchen. Below you will find 9 kitchen hacks that will blow your mind. Plus, they really work!

  1. There is nothing worse than making a big fresh batch of homemade guacamole and having it go brown shortly after mixing. Saving it for the next day? It usually does not look good after sitting in the refrigerator overnight. It turns brown and does not look appetizing. Now, all you have to do is spray some cooking spray on it. If you don’t want to put cooking spray on it, you can also put the guac in a container and add a thin layer of water to it. This acts as a protective covering. Just drain the water off to enjoy your still-green guacamole.
  2. If you need to pour something but need both hands, there is a hack to help you get it done. Simply get a sealable bag. Then, cuff the top of the bag down around itself. This keeps the bag open and stable while you pour food into it.
  3. Everyone loves fresh, hot, and moist cookies out of the oven. However, it seems like they always get a little harder a few days later. There is a way to prevent this. Simply put the cookies in an airtight container with an apple wedge. The apple will help keep the cookies moist.
  4. It is not fun to go to the pantry to grab some brown sugar only to realize it is harder than a rock. Now, there is a way to keep that brown sugar soft and ready for use. All you have to do is store the brown sugar with a slice of bread. The bread never needs to be changed because sugar prevents mold.
  5. If you need to cut a cake and do not want to mess it up, a warm knife can be used. A lot of people know that. However, what some may not know is that you can also use unscented dental floss. This will cut the cake perfectly.
  6. If you have no idea if your eggs are still edible. There is a way to check. Simply put the egg in a bowl of water. If it sinks and lies on its side, it’s good to go. However, if the egg stays upright, it is probably nearing the end of its freshness.
  7. Want to bake some cookies but not sure if your baking powder and baking soda is still good? There is a way to test it. You should just mix a teaspoon of baking powder into half a cup of hot water. If it bubbles, then it is good. If it doesn’t, then go get more.  As for baking soda, just mix a quarter of a teaspoon into 2 teaspoons of vinegar. It should also bubble immediately.

There are hundreds of wonderful kitchen hacks out there. These are just seven that can help make life a bit easier. Do you already use any of these?
