7 Reasons McDonald’s Is So Bad For You

McDonald's from Wikimedia Commons

A lot of people love McDonald’s and especially children. Who can resist a 10-piece chicken nugget now and then? Well, the thing is McDonald’s food is not healthy for you at all. Here are seven reasons why it is so bad for you.

  1. Preservatives – Even though they have tried to make it seem like they are doing things a bit healthier this is one thing they haven’t gotten rid of in their food.
  2. The nuggets melt – This is disgusting, but a Reddit user shared that they left the nuggets out on the counter and they melted. You should be able to leave these out and them stay exactly the same.
  3. It only seems cheap – McDonald’s food seems like it is really cheap but that isn’t the case. Instead, you will be spending the money on health costs due to eating unhealthy fast food all the time. Doctors and tests cost more than just eating healthy.
  4. Kids beg for it – With their special Happy Meal toys, they market straight to children and make kids beg for it. It is hard to tell your children no to a cheap meal, but you have to remember that it isn’t healthy for them.  If you are going to give in, at least try to talk them into the apples over the french fries once in a while.
  5. That Shamrock Shake – You think you are getting a yummy treat, but you have no idea how bad it is for you actually. It has  63 grams of sugar and 74 grams of carbs for a small. It is also 460 calories and that is just for a small shake!
  6. Full of grease – Their food is full of grease and just think about the salt on those fries! Please don’t ask for extra salt like many people do. McDonald’s doesn’t try to make the quarter pounder or Big Mac healthy at all. It is just full of grease.
  7. Salads – At one time, they had a salad that was more calories than a burger and fries! A lot of restaurants do this, but you want to avoid the high calorie salad. Just because it has lettuce on it, that doesn’t make it healthy for you. They are packed with dressing and other high calorie items.

Do you still at McDonald’s knowing that it is bad for you? Do you feel like you should quit and cook at home more often? Sound off in the comments below on your thoughts.
