Who Are These People?
Videos, news stories, and social media posts making rounds about the missing submarine are all saying the same thing “it has five millionaires onboard.”
Those following the story, however, are interested in a little more of a backstory about who these individuals willing to get on a questionably constructed submarine operated by a cheap gaming controller purchased via Amazon really are.
So, who are these people?
Hamish Harding
Hamish Harding is the chairman of Action Aviation. His company sells aircrafts to wealthy customers including international cooperations, celebrities, professional athletes, and heads of state (just to name a few). He is referred to in multiple outlets as a billionaire. He, however, is not recognized on any official lists of the wealthiest people in the world. So, it is unclear how much money he actually has. It is also worth noting that he was also one of the six passengers on Jeff Bezos-owned Blue Origin’s mission last year.
Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman
Shahzada Dawood is the vice chairman of an investment and holding company called Dawood Hercules. It has been confirmed that his 19-year-old son, Suleman Dawood, is also on the vessel with his father. Shahzada has a very worried wife and daughter waiting back home for their return.
Paul-Henri Nargeolet
Paul-Henri Nargeolet is recognized as a Titanic expert. To date, he has led six different expeditions to the Titanic wreckage. Paul is also the director of a company called RMS Titanic that does underwater research.
Stockton Rush
Stockton Rush is the CEO of OceanGate and the operator of the submarine that is currently missing.
The Latest Update On The Missing Submarine
The latest update on finding the submarine is that a banging noise is being reported under the water which is presumed to be the passengers banging on the vessel walls with the hopes of being located. Unfortunately, the passengers have a limited amount of air remaining before everyone onboard suffocates.
Individuals following the story on TikTok point out other potential issues including the serious question of whether the vessel had a carbon dioxide scrubber on board. Some people following the story have also expressed concerns for the material used to construct the submarine as well.
