Social media fanatics were met with panic this morning when they logged into Twitter only to get error messages suggesting the platform was down. Naturally, users did what they do every time Facebook and Instagram crash. They rush to Google to question if Twitter is really down. After all, a social media users’ first instinct in this situation is to question if the website/application is down or if their internet/device is not functioning properly. A quick Google search, however, reveals Twitter is, in fact, down for the count.
Is Twitter Down? Tons of users report an outage
Sadly, it isn’t your internet or device malfunctioning. The social media platform does appear to be down at the moment. Reports across the internet on various platform confirms Twitter has been down for the last 20 to 30 minutes.
On the social media app, users can log in to their Twitter accounts. They, however, are met with an error message at the very top of their Twitter feeds noting that tweets are not loading properly right now. It does appear as if users can see some tweets and notifications that are a few days old.
According to Down Detector, over 54,000 users have reported having trouble using the social media platform in the past hour.
Does the social media platform have a Facebook page?
There is a page on Facebook dedicated to Twitter with over 16 million likes and 17 million followers. It, however, appears to have been about a year since the last time anything was posted on the page. So, it likely wouldn’t provide users with much information about what is currently going on with this outage.
Many users have raced back to Facebook to question if the opposing social media platform was down. This is an action Facebook users take any time Facebook crashes as well. Jokes have already started to swirl on Facebook as many users jest they only returned to Facebook because they are addicted to social media and can’t currently access Twitter.
Some users have questioned if Elon Musk has anything to do with the current outage.
