Upcoming Movies: 5 Films Releasing This Weekend

As March comes to a close, several films are being released in theaters and streaming platforms this weekend. Whether it’s a nationwide release like ‘Morbius,” or a streaming release like ‘The Bubble,’ movie fans have a variety to choose from. Here are 5 upcoming movies releasing to theaters and streaming this week.

Upcoming Movies:

Morbius– April 1 (Theatrical)
Synopsis:
“Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble to save himself and others like him. What at first appears to be a success soon reveals itself to be a remedy potentially worse than the disease.”

Sony Pictures take another stab at their Marvel Multiverse within the world of Spider-Man. After the success of ‘Venom,’ however, news circulated about an origin story featuring Morbius. After several delays, Jared Leto as the titular character in ‘Morbius’ will get a theatrical release on April 1.

‘The Contractor’- April 1 (Theatrical)
Synopsis:
“After being involuntarily discharged from the U.S. Special Forces, James Harper decides to support his family by joining a private contracting organization. During a covert mission, Harper must evade those trying to kill him while making his way back home.”

Chris Pine teams with veteran actor Kiefer Sutherland in the latest action film headed to theaters. Director Tarik Saleh has previously worked in TV and gets his first shot at a feature film. ‘The Contractor’ releases in theaters this Friday, April 1.

‘You Won’t Be Alone’- April 1 (Theatrical)
Synopsis:
“You Won’t Be Alone follows a young girl in an isolated mountain village in 19th century Macedon is kidnapped and then transformed into a witch by an ancient spirit. Curious about life as a human, the young witch accidentally kills a peasant in the nearby village and then takes her victim’s shape to live life in her skin. .”

Written and directed by Goran Stolevski,  ‘You Wont’ Be Alone’ is a period piece grounded in horror. The film stars Noomi Rapace, Anamaria Marinca, and Alice Englert. ‘You Won’t Be Alone’ be get a theatrical release on April 1.

‘The Bubble’- April 1 (Netflix)
Synopsis-
“Sneaking out. Hooking up. Melting down. The cast and crew of a blockbuster action franchise attempt to shoot a sequel while quarantining at a posh hotel..”

Director Judd Apatow returns to his comedic roots with an ensemble cast in this Netflix Original film. The film stars Leslie Man, Iris Apatow, Maria Bakalova, and David Duchovny and will be released this Friday on Netflix.

Upcoming Movies: Disney Musical

‘Better Nate Than Ever’- April 1 (Disney +)
Synopsis:
“13-year-old Nate Foster has big Broadway dreams. There’s only one problem — he can’t even land a part in the school play. But when his parents leave town, Nate and his best friend Libby sneak off to the Big Apple for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to prove everyone wrong.”

Tim Federle is directing this musical for Disney+ having recently directed the High School Musical Holiday Special. Federle is known for his writing credits, including the High School Musical TV series as well as the upcoming ‘Sister Act 3.’ ‘Better Nate Than Ever’ stars Joshua Bassett and Lisa Kudrow, and will release this Friday.
