Despite recent health concerns and the heartbreaking fact of her first Christmas without Prince Philip, Queen Elizabeth is getting excited about the upcoming holiday. Her Majesty is looking forward to hosting the Royal Family at Sandringham House in Norfolk.

The Queen recently stepped back from a number of her royal duties due to suffering from a sprained back. She had to miss the recent COP26 summit in Scotland, as well as Remembrance Sunday, so she could focus on getting better. However, many royal fans are still concerned over her health, especially as she spent an overnight stay in hospital a few months ago.

Queen Elizabeth did, however, receive Mr. Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England, for an Audience at Windsor Castle on November 24. She certainly does look well and sprightly in the image tweeted by the Royal Family.

Meanwhile, The Sun quotes a source as saying the Queen is looking forward to the festivities with her family this Christmas. She has also reassured the family that she is feeling “far better.” In fact, the Queen feels she is up to the task of hosting them at Sandringham House in Norfolk.

Sad milestone for the Queen this Christmas

It is believed that the Queen is keen on staying at the property, due to the time she has spent there in her younger years with Prince Philip. In fact, this Christmas marks a sad milestone for Her Majesty, as she prepared to spend her first festive season without her husband. The Duke of Edinburgh passed away in April 2021 at the age of 99.

Reportedly, Queen Elizabeth will be celebrating Christmas with the Royal Family, including the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. However, regrettably, it is believed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will not return to the UK this Christmas.

Apparently, the former senior royals are fearful of the media frenzy that would follow them to the UK. This would have marked the first time both of them returned home, since stepping down as senior Royal Family members. They have rather chosen to spend the holidays with Archie and Lilibet in the US.

It is currently believed that Prince William and Kate Middleton will attend the festivities. However, they might have to break a royal Christmas tradition. It turns out they have three celebrations this year.

They hope to spend some time alone with the children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The Cambridges also want to spend some time with Kate’s side of the family. Meanwhile, they do plan to spend some time with the Queen at Sandringham this holiday season. It sounds like they will have their hands full trying to keep the whole family happy this Christmas!
