A drunk Turkish man stumbled upon and joined a search party last week. The inebriated man proceeded to spend HOURS assisting volunteers in the search. It, however, turns out the search party the intoxicated man joined was actually looking for him.
Drunk construction worker Beyhan Mutlu reported missing
Beyhan Mutlu, 50, was reported missing after relatives became concerned when he didn’t return to his home after he spent the evening drinking with friends, according to The Times. Turkish news outlet Daily Sabah goes on to reveal Beyhan Mutlu’s wife became concerned after being unable to reach him via his cell phone. Concern grew when his friends admit they lost their drunk friend after he wandered off into the woods.
After being reported missing by his wife, authorities sent for a search party. Still intoxicated, Mutlu was also still in the area. So, he stumbled upon the search party and joined the volunteers to help search the woods. At the time, he had no idea who the search party was actually looking for.
Drunk Turkish man realizes they are searching for him, hours later
The search party spends hours searching through the woods looking for the missing construction workers. Multiple outlets report this search happened during the dead of night. After being in the woods searching with everyone for several hours, the drunk Turkish man starts to hear the name the volunteers are shouting. It was at that moment he realized they were all shouting HIS name. Turns out, this search party was looking for him after his wife and friends reported him missing.
“Who are we looking for? I am here,” he reportedly said after realizing the search party was actually looking for him.
Speaking to Daily Sabah at a later time, the drunk Turkish man noted there was absolutely no reason for his friends and wife to report him missing.
Basically, I’m paying for my friends’ mistakes. What happened is all like a joke.”
After taking statements, authorities did give him a ride home to his wife.
This isn’t the first time this has happened
Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time an individual has joined a search party looking for themselves. Back in 2012, the same thing happened in Iceland. According to The Times, an Asian tourist joined a search party after failing to realize the description of the missing person was actually her.
