Brian Laundrie’s attorney is being blasted for minimizing Gabby Petito’s death with his recent statement following the issuing of an arrest warrant for his client. As we previously reported, the attorney seemingly wanted to make it clear the arrest warrant issued was NOT connected to Gabby’s passing. Moreover, the attorney used the word “demise” in his statement.
What did Brian Laundrie’s attorney say exactly?
As we previously reported, a Fox News reporter revealed the attorney’s official statement on Twitter. Here’s what the statement said:
It is my understanding that the arrest warrant for Brian Laundrie is related to activities occurring after the death of Gabby Petito and not related to her actual demise.”
His statement continued: “The FBI is focusing on locating Brian and when that occurs the specifics of the charges covered under the indictment will be addressed in the proper forum.”
Now, the Fox News reporter only has a following of a little over 1,000 people on Twitter. So, the tweet did not get tons of traction. But, those that did see the tweet were furious.
One individual tweeted in response to the statement: “So using her debit card after her demise is not related to her death? The lawyer needs to shut up and save it for court!”
Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball has been following the Gabby Petito case for a while now. She shared a screenshot of Brian Laundrie’s attorney’s statement on her Instagram profile. The vlogger and her 50,000 followers BLASTED the attorney for his word choice in the statement.
The internet takes issue with his use of the word ‘demise’
Katie Joy notes in her Instagram post that the lawyer of Brian Laundrie “callously minimized” the murder of Gabby Petito by his choice to use the word “demise” in the caption.
Gabby was murdered! The only likely card Brian used was Gabby’s!
He murdered her, stole her van, stole her money & then went on the run.
Do the right thing Dirty Laundries & hand over your son to the FBI.”
In response to her post, her followers were just as furious.
- “Did the attorney just confirm that he is hiding with that statement?”
- “How does he know the ‘activities’ Brian is being charged with happened after Gabby’s murder? Has the coroner publicly announced a known time and date of death?”
- “Did he really have to use the word demise?!”
