Prince Harry and Queen Elizabeth
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle constantly receive bad press since stepping back from their royal duties and moving to the US. However, sometimes those critical headlines aren’t exactly what they seem.
In a soon-to-be-released epilogue to the book Finding Freedom, the authors have opened up about Harry and his grandmother. a source told the authors that despite everything that has happened, Harry has the utmost love and respect for the Queen.
When Harry traveled to the UK for his grandfather, Prince Philip’s funeral, it was reported that he had an icy reception. After his and Meghan’s interview with Oprah, topped with other interviews, the Duke had thoroughly upset the Royal Family. However, despite this, the source said Harry and the Queen shared a “very special” reunion in April. The meeting came after grandmother and grandson had been separated for more than a year during the ongoing pandemic.

When Harry returned to the UK for Prince Philip’s funeral, he reunited with the Royal Family. Meanwhile, Meghan Markle was heavily pregnant at the time with their daughter, Lilibet. Her doctors had advised her not to travel. While the media made it look like Harry was frozen out by his family, it turns out he wasn’t ignored by the Queen.
A source quoted in Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand’s new epilogue revealed how Harry spent most of his time after the funeral. He was mostly with Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank who are close friends of Harry and Meghan. However, the funeral also gave Harry the opportunity to “spend precious moments” with the Queen.
The source said that for Harry and the Queen to see each other after so long apart was “very special.” Despite everything that has happened, he still has the “utmost love and respect” for the Queen. In fact, it was Queen Elizabeth’s life of duty and service that inspired him to also serve.
