In one of the chapters of her book, Counting On star Jinger Duggar recalls the tragic death of her grandmother, Mary Duggar. Apparently, Mary accidentally drowned in a swimming pool and died in 2019. “My hand shook as I held my phone to my face. My legs had already given way beneath me, and I could feel the carpet of my friend’s living room digging into my knees”, Jinger said as she recalled what she feels the first time she learned about her grandmother’s passing. “I heard my mom’s words, but they didn’t make sense. They couldn’t be true. There had to be some mistake”, she added.

She also said that she made a special trip to Arkansas to spend time with her grandmother three months earlier before she died. Jinger also said that she was very devastated as her grandmother didn’t die in a peaceful and natural cause. “The thought of my beloved grandma dying in such a tragic way made me sick.
