Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to update Finding Freedom
This summer, new details will be revealed of Prince Harry and Meghan’s life. These details are to be included in a new updated edition of the royal biography, Finding Freedom.
The biography of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex was written by royal journalists, Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand. The original version covers Harry and Meghan’s life since they met in 2016, right through to them stepping down from royal life in March 2020.
Finding Freedom was first published in August last year and became 2020’s Sunday Times number one bestselling biography. Now a year later, the Sunday Times is reporting that Finding Freedom is being updated. The new chapters will reportedly cover the Sussexes’ recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, the bullying allegations against Meghan Markle and Prince Philip’s death.
Duke and Duchess of Sussex not interviewed for biography
A spokesperson for Meghan and Harry previously revealed that the couple made no direct contribution to Finding Freedom. However, the biography is based on the royal authors’ own experiences as members of the royal press corps. It also included Scobie and Durand’s own independent reporting.
The biography, Finding Freedom made headlines with its many unknown details of the couple’s life. It includes intimate details of Harry and Meghan’s first date and meeting each other’s family members. The biography also reveals the romantic song that the newlyweds danced to on their wedding day in 2018.
How Harry met Meghan
Meghan and Harry were set up for their first date by a mutual friend at Dean Street Townhouse in London in the summer of 2017. According to the authors, the conversation between the pair flowed easily as they enjoyed drinks together on their three-hour date.
The following day, Meghan and Harry reunited at the same Soho restaurant for dinner, sneaking in through the staff entrance. A friend shared that Harry knew they would be together at that point. They said Meghan “ticked every box” for Harry. However, Meghan’s legal team later dismissed the details of the first date as inaccurate.
The couple wed in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in 2018. However, details of the reception were kept private at the time. However, the biography revealed how joyful Harry and Meghan were on their big day. It went on to claim that their first dance was to Wilson Pickett’s song I’m in Love. Another tidbit revealed in the biography is that Meghan delivered her own toast at their reception.
At present, it is unknown when in summer the updated version of Finding Freedom will be available on sale.
