After all the tragedy of the last couple of weeks, the Royal Family has something to celebrate. Prince Louis, the third and youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton, is about to celebrate his third birthday. His parents shared a cute image of Louis on his bicycle on social media on Thursday.

What with Prince Philip’s passing and funeral and the scandal surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Royal Family has had a rough time. However, there is finally some good news after weeks of stress and mourning.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s youngest son, Louis, turns three years of age today. To celebrate their youngest child’s special day, The Cambridges shared an adorable photo of Louis on social media on Thursday.
The cute little tyke can be seen smiling from ear to ear while wearing a natty outfit. He is clad in grey shorts and a blue and white striped shirt, with dark blue sneakers and a matching sweater. Louis poses on his bright red bike with his backpack on his back.
Louis’ first day of nursery school
William and Kate captioned the post with the words, “Three tomorrow!” They noted that the photo had been taken earlier this week by the Duchess before Louis left for his first day of nursery school. The caption ended with the words, “The Duke and Duchess are pleased to share a new image of Prince Louis.”

Sharing new images of a family member on their birthday is a custom in the British Royal Family. However, Queen Elizabeth II, Louis’ great-grandmother, sat out the tradition this year after losing her husband, Prince Philip.
Sharing a new portrait of a family member is customary ahead of their birthday. Louis’ great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, sat out the tradition this year following the death of her husband, Prince Philip.
William and Kate’s children
As noted by People Magazine, Louis is attending Willcocks Nursery School in London, the same nursery school his older sister, Princess Charlotte attended. Charlotte, 5, is now attending the Thomas’s Battersea nearby together with her and Louis’ older brother, Prince George, 7.
Prince William and Kate also posted an image of their children on their social media in December as their Christmas Card photo.
More recently, the Royal Family paid tribute to Prince Philip by sharing a series of previously unseen images. One of these portrayed William and Kate, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, and seven of their great-grandchildren.

The image was taken by Kate, who it seems is the semi-official photographer for the Royal Family. As we reported here, photography is another, a less-seen role played by the Duchess of Sussex, as a senior working royal.
