Former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan claims in an interview that members of the royal family thanked him for attacking Meghan Markle. He says he wants to have a sit-down interview with Markle in order to ask her some difficult questions.
Piers Morgan on his attack on Meghan Markle
Among several US interviews Piers Morgan has given since quitting Good Morning Britain, the former host spoke with Extra TV host Billy Bush. In the interview, he said he has received messages sent on behalf of several members of the royal family. Morgan doesn’t want to say who it was. However, he had received gratitude that someone was “standing up.”
In an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, Morgan also took aim at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. He described Markle as the “delusional duchess.” Piers accuses her of “making hundreds of millions” from her association with the royal family. However, all the while, she was publically “trashing” the royal family.
Meghan ‘track record’
Morgan says he hopes that Harry will recognize that Markle “has a track record” of ditching people when they cease to be of use to her. Moreover, Morgan told Carlson that Harry’s principle “use” to Meghan was being of royal lineage. His advice to Harry was that he ensures he remains “in use.”
The former Good Morning Britain host asked Carlson if they could trust a family member who “immediately rings the anchor of a big American breakfast show.” Morgan said that this was all to “keep the pot boiling” and making themselves talked about. Piers said that this was “ultimately their only currency.” He added that otherwise, Harry and Meghan were “just another couple of celebrities on the huckster trail.”
Oprah with Meghan and Harry
Morgan left Good Morning Britain in March after facing backlash for comments he made on the show. He had dismissed Markle’s claims made in the interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In Oprah’s interview, Meghan opened up about her mental health struggles while living in the palace. She claimed she had suicidal thoughts because no one wanted to help her. Markle also accused an unnamed member of the royal family of racism relating to her son Archie.
After Morgan spoke out against Meghan on Good Morning Britain, the network received 57,000 complaints about his attack on the former royal. As noted by The Mirror, had claimed that Markle was lying about her experience in the palace.
When speaking to Extra TV, Morgan referred to the backlash. He compared it to an “online mob” making death threats against his family, including his children. Piers said how completely supportive his wife is about this, saying she hates the online abuse. Morgan said the idea that his sons had to be targeted by “so-called liberals” in a way that was threatening and abusive to them is “completely disgusting.”
“The idea my sons had to be targeted by so-called liberals in a way that was threatening to them, abusive to them is completely disgusting.”
Morgan was asked what he would like to say to Markle if he could. He said he wants to ask Meghan to sit down with her husband for an “equally long interview.” In that interview, he would ask her “more difficult questions” about all her claims.
