As the expected controversy over Oprah Winfrey’s interview with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry grows, more controversy has arisen. The Duchess has been accused of bullying palace aides at Kensington Palace. More hints of the alleged bullying have recently come to light. Reportedly, when palace aides returned freebie designer clothing sent to her early in her relationship with Harry, Markle became angry.
Meghan Markle and free designer fashions
When the news of Meghan Markle dating Prince Harry first came out, she was sent a series of freebie designer clothing. While Markle appreciated the free fashion, palace aides insisted on sending all the freebies back.
Page Six quotes a new report that said an actress keeping free designer fashions by major labels is fine. However, this is a definite no-no for royals. The royal protocol is to send the fashion freebies back to their sender.
A source alleged that Markle was furious when told she couldn’t keep the fashion freebies. The source said, “As an actress, it was perfectly acceptable to take freebies sent by fashion chains and designer labels.”
However, the source added that Meghan had to be told it was “not the done thing” when you are a member of the royal family. Apparently, on top of this, Prince Charles was the one to pick up Markle’s tab for wardrobe expenses following her marriage to Prince Harry in May 2018.
Upcoming Oprah With Meghan And Harry
This tasty tidbit relates to alleged tantrums by Meghan Markle against royal aides. Moreover, this news has come to light days before Meghan and Harry’s much-anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey. Oprah With Meghan And Harry will air on CBS on March 7, 2021.
After the allegations surfaced, Buckingham Palace is launching a probe into the allegations of bullying. Meanwhile, on Markle’s part, she has said this is just a “calculated smear campaign” orchestrated by Buckingham Palace. She believes this is being done in order to deflect attention from the highly anticipated sit-down with Oprah Winfrey.
No subject off-limits
That interview promises truly shocking statements, while Winfrey said in a trailer “there is no subject that is off-limits.” The two teaser trailers revealed truly controversial statements by Oprah, including when she responds to Meghan, asking, “Were you silent or were you silenced?” Later in the interview, Oprah responds to the former Suits actress, saying “almost unsurvivable sounds like there was a breaking point.”
For his part, Prince Harry makes a direct reference to the fate of his mother, Princess Diana. He said how “relieved and happy” he was to be sitting there talking to her with his wife at his side. The Duke said he can’t “begin to imagine what it must have been for her going through this process by herself all these years ago.”
Oprah With Meghan And Harry will air on CBS on March 7, 2021.
