Prince Philip is currently in the hospital. Queen Elizabeth’s 99-year-old husband is feeling under the weather and voluntarily took to treatment. The Duke of Edinburgh is receiving care at King Edward VII Hospital in London after checking in on Tuesday night.

According to Entertainment Online, Prince Philip was taken to the hospital in a car. His admittance is not an emergency. However, his personal doctor did advise that he be under observation as a “precautionary measure.”

Prince Philip hospitalized as a precaution

“The duke is expected to remain in the hospital for a few days for “observation and rest,” a statement from The Palace reads. Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth will remain at Windsor Castle while her husband receives medical care.

Some fans may worry that Prince Philip’s illness could be related to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, sources have confirmed that’s not the case. The Duke was feeling unwell for a short period of time, which caused him to contact the doctor.

Just last month, both Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth received their Covid-19 vaccinations. After doing so, they shared the news publicly to avoid any speculation about their health.

The Queen, 94, and the Duke have been in lockdown mode since the start of the pandemic. BBC reports that the couple have spent that time in England at Windsor Castle. However, they have included a small household staff to help take care of their needs. Insiders even reveal that they’ve nicknamed the castle “HMS Bubble.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Prime Minister Boris Johnson has revealed that he sends his “best wishes” to Prince Philip as he undergoes his rest and treatment.

Back in December 2019, The Duke spent some time at the same hospital. He received treatment for a “pre-existing condition,” and stayed under medical care as a precaution.

He left the hospital on Christmas Eve, and went straight to Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where he spent the holiday with Queen Elizabeth.

More big news for the Royal Family

However, Prince Philip’s hospitalization is just the latest headline surrounding The Royal Family this week. Recently, Philip’s grandson, Prince Harry, announced that he and wife Meghan Markle will welcome their second child together.

Harry and Meghan are currently the parents of one son, Archie. Following the big announcement, The Palace released a statement of joy over the upcoming addition to the family.

“Her Majesty, Duke of Edinburgh, Prince of Wales and the entire family are ‘delighted’ and wish them well,” Buckingham Palace told Fox News about the big baby announcement.

Meghan and Harry shared their baby news with a stunning photo of themselves sitting in the grass. The Duchess rested her head on her husband’s lap. She placed a hand over her bulging belly and stared into Harry’s eyes.
