Sarah Huckabee Sanders is getting back into politics. This time around she wants to be in charge. Neither of those facts are all that surprising. What might surprise some is there appears to be a chance that she won’t run as a Republican.
Sanders is almost certainly not going to run as a democrat either. When Sanders officially runs for governor of Arkansas, there are some who believe she will be the first official candidate in the MAGA Patriot party.
While she hasn’t made that official, there are more than a few people who believe the move could be right around the corner. That’s because the former White House press secretary is still a very loyal supporter of former President Donald Trump. She was one of his longest-serving aides. When she left the job it wasn’t because Trump had tired of her. It was simply time to get out of the spotlight. It’s entirely possible she left the spotlight to get ready for this run.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders Makes It Official
In a video the daughter of former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee posted to Twitter, Sanders made it clear she isn’t running as a “unity” candidate.
“With the radical left now in charge of Washington, your governor is your last line of defense. In fact, your governor must be on the front line,” Sanders said. “So today, I announce my candidacy for governor of Arkansas.”
“We’ve seen violence in our streets, at a congressional baseball practice and at our Capitol. This is not who we are as Americans. To remain free, we must have law and order,” she said in the clip.
Timing Might Not Be A Coincidence
More than a few people took notice of the timing of Sanders’ announcement and the formation of the MAGA Patriot Party.
I wonder if she’s running as the first candidate for the Patriot Party? https://t.co/BkrvxaLtBM

The MAGA Patriot Party filed with the FEC on Monday, forming a new political party that is geared towards winning over Republicans. While Trump’s team claims he has nothing to do with the formation, those around him have been talking for weeks about his possible desire to start his own offshoot party.
Trump is said to be unhappy with the lack of support he received from congressional Republicans after the January 6 riots. Many said he played a part in the violence, by revving up his supporters. Some held him so responsible that 10 House Republicans voted for his impeachment.
That was a massive change from his first impeachment. No one from his own party voted in the affirmative in the House. If Trump does get involved in the MAGA Patriot Party it’s hard not to think he’ll recruit Sarah Huckabee Sanders to join him.
