The black and gold brand of WWE delivered a big-time NXT card on Wednesday night. The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic continued on, but the main event was what stole the show. Former NXT Champion Tomasso Ciampa finally got his hands on Timothy Thatcher and did so in the Fight Pit.
NXT: Fight Pit Main Event
Timothy Thatcher defeated Tomasso Ciampa
A big fight feel took over the Capitol Wrestling Center as both Tomasso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher wasted no time exchanging fists. Both men brawled atop the steel structure, as Thatcher gain control with stiff uppercuts and suplex. Thatcher then applied a leg lock close to the edge before Ciampa used his momentum to regain the advantage. Mudhole stomping kicks by Ciampa led to a hard chop exchange between both men.

After making their way down to the ring, Thatcher attempted a chin lock but it only led to Ciampa running him into the cage. Thatcher grabbed a sleeper but Ciampa went low before hitting the Willow’s Bell DDT. Ciampa then got stuck while climbing the cage, wedging his leg in the steel. Thatcher capitalized with a leg lock leading to a submission win. One of the better NXT matches in some time and a must-watch for fans of the brand. ****
NXT: Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic
KUSHIDA and Ruff defeated Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory
Johnny Gargano has done it all in NXT and Austin Theory has solidified himself as Gargano’s right-hand man. On the flip side, KUSHIDA has been on a hot streak as of late and Ruff has looked solid as well. As expected, both teams both on a top-notch match to kick off the show, with KUSHIDA and Ruff getting the advantage after taking the action outside. In what can only be seen as an upset, KUSHIDA pinned Gargano after a northern lights suplex. ***
Lucha House Party (Lince Dorado and Gran Metalik) vs Imperium (Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel)
Imperium attempted to keep the match on the ground early, but Lucha House Party were able to get things under control with their aerial attack, including an elevated splash by Metalik. Aichner regained control for Imperium with stiff chops and a backbreaker for a two count. Metalik was able to get the tag to Dorado as the Lucha double teams continued.
Dorado attempted a suicide dive but was caught by Aichner resulting in a nasty spine buster onto the apron. Barthel made his way in but was hit with a tornado DDT by Dorado leading to a tag to Metalik. Metalik was a house of fire, hitting a hurricanrana and a top rope moonsault that got a two-count. The action went to the outside, Metalik hit a moonsault onto Aichner to the outside while Dorado connected with a shooting star press on Barthel for the win. ***1/2
NXT: Women’s Dusty Classic
Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter vs. Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm
Kacy Catanzaro and Kayden Carter were quick to take advantage of their speed during the first round of the NXT Dusty Classic. While they seemed on pace to pull off the upset, Mercedes Martinez and Toni Storm used their size to turn the tables. A top rope hurricanrana from Catanzaro stood out as she was able to make the hot tag to Carter. Carter came in and started to clean house, holding her own against both Martinez and Storm. While Storm locked in a half crab on Carter, Io Shirai attacked Martinez on the outside before Catanzaro hit a corkscrew phoenix splash to pull off the upset win. ***

WWE: Undercard Results
Karrion Kross defeated Ashante “Thee” Adonis
Karrion Kross makes his entrance in spectacular fashion as Ashante Adonis waits in the ring. Kross’ push was evident as he dominated Adonis with a variety of suplexes before putting him away with an elbow to the back of the head. After the match, Kross locked on Adonis’ tag partner with the straight jacket. SQUASH
Bronson Reed defeated Tyler Rust
Tyler Rust did his best to use his speed, but Bronson Reed was too strong from the get-go. After a series of power moves by Reed, Rust was able to regain control but it didn’t last long. Reed put an end to the contest after a picture-perfect top rope splash. *1/2
NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar comes down to the ring alongside Mendoza and Wilde. Escobar runs down several members of the roster before Lucha House Party came down to the ring. They are quickly joined by Curt Stallion who helps clear the ring.
Finn Balor confronted The Undisputed Era and told them he was going to cash in his favor. Balor told Kyle O’Reilly he wanted him as a tag partner, much to the Undisputed Era’s liking.
