The January 18th edition of WWE Monday Night Raw had a lot of questions to answer following the events of last week. Alexa Bliss was forced to answer why she threw a fireball in the face of Randy Orton. Goldberg was invited to address his upcoming match against WWE Champion Drew McIntyre. And the Hurt Business continued their destruction in six-man tag team action.
WWE Raw: Orton Responds
After being hit with a fireball last week by Alexa Bliss, Randy Orton kicked off Monday Night RAW. Wearing a full mask in an opening video, the Viper promised to get revenge on Bliss and The Fiend and will no longer have compassion. Orton said he endured 1st-degree burns, before stating “There’s a saying that those who fight fire with fire usually end up with ashes…ashes of the one responsible for their affliction.” Despite the fireball, Orton confirmed he’ll still be competing in the Royal Rumble.
WWE RAW Results
Charlotte defeated Peyton Royce
Peyton Royce kick-started the match after attacking Charlotte during her entrance. After a quick brawl on the outside, the action moved back into the ring. As Charlotte was getting the upper hand, Ric Flair’s music hit as he came on stage alongside Lacy Evans. Evans was dressed in one of Charlotte’s robes, causing Royce to attack Charlotte from behind. Charlotte was able to make a comeback and get the win with the figure 8. Charlotte still looks a bit clunky and awkward since her return last month, but chalk it up to ring rust. **
Mace defeated Xavier Woods
Xavier was outnumbered from the get-go as Mace was accompanied by Retribution. Despite his best efforts, Woods fell victim to the numbers game and Mace picked up the quick win after hitting an elevated slam. *1/2
Alexa’s Playground
Alexa invited Asuka to her playground for an interview segment. After confirming her entry into the Royal Rumble, Alexa was easily irritated by Asuka laughing off the interview. Alexa began to talk to The Fiend, who wasn’t there, causing Asuka to dip out and leave to the back.
"The Fiend is still here." – @WWEAsuka@AlexaBliss_WWE didn't take too kindly to that … or did she? 🤨 #WWERaw #AlexasPlayground pic.twitter.com/5vXSan6FrU

WWE RAW Continues On
Shayna Baszler defeated Mandy Rose
As expected, this was nothing more than a glorified squash. Baszler made quick work of Rose after making her tap out to the rear-naked choke. After the match, tension was teased between Baszlerr and her tag partner Nia Jax. *
AJ Styles defeated Ricochet
Prior to the match. Ricochet was told by WWE official Adam Pearce that a win could get him into the Royal Rumble. As expected, both AJ Styles and Ricochet put on a solid TV match that was clearly the best contest on the show this week. Ricochet shined at times with his outstanding aerial attack. AJ made his comeback with a variety of moves but was met by a knee counter to the flying elbow. Ricochet attempted a springboard of his own but fell into an incredible counter by AJ that led to the Styles-Clash. ***1/2

WWE Raw: The Dirt Sheet
The Miz and John Morrison welcomed Goldberg to the Dirt Sheet on WWE Raw…or did they? Instead, Gilberg returned to the WWE and was used as a predictable prop to mock the former WCW star. Drew McIntyre’s music hit, but yet another mock version appeared. The Miz ended the segment to announce that he’ll walk away from the Royal Rumble as WWE Champion.

Matt Riddle & The Lucha House Party vs The Hurt Business (Bobby Lashley, Cedric Alexander & Shelton Benjamin)
Prior to the match, Matt Riddle confronted The Hurt Business in the back. After poking fun at Bobby Lashey, Lashley stomped on Riddle’s foot. In response, Riddle linked up with the Lucha House Party to challenge the Hurt Business to a six-man tag team match. Despite getting the advantage for most of the match, the Hurt Business showed constant tension between all three members. Benjamin and Alexander argued non-stop, forcing Lashley to tag himself in and get the win for his team with the Hurt Lock on Dorado. **1/2
Drew McIntyre speaks
WWE Champion Drew McIntrye addressed the WWE Universe via satellite. McIntyre laughed off the Dirt Sheet segment but gave a warning to Goldberg. McIntyre told the WWE Hall of Famer that he will walk out of the Royal Rumble still the WWE Champion.
Next week, @DMcIntyreWWE will be BACK on #WWERaw with one final message for @Goldberg! #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/wSmfOMX3PJ

WWE Monday Night Raw filler
Jeff Hardy defeated Jaxson Ryker
The feud that won’t die continued as Elias sent Jason Ryker to take on Jeff Hardy. In what felt like a dragged-out space filler, Hardy got the win by DQ after interference from Elias. After the match, Ryker wasn’t pleased with Elias for his actions and took out Hardy as a result. *
WWE Raw: Main Event Action
Alexa Bliss vs Asuka
While Alexa Bliss had Randy Orton on her mind, she also had to contend against the RAW Women’s Champion Asuka. After just minutes of a standard back and forth match, the lights turned purple. Asuka looked confused as Bliss stood in the ring with a blank stare. Asuka charged Bliss but was quickly countered into a takedown. After catching a knee to the face, Bliss recreated the Fiend corner taunt before attempting a mandible claw. Asuka fought back but was then hit with Sister Abigal as Bliss got the win in a non-title match. Say what you want about Alexa, but she plays the role well. The lights turned up and the Fiend, through Alexa, said “Let Me In.” **
