The January 15th edition of WWE Friday Night Smackdown continued down its road to Wrestlemania on Friday night. After Roman Reigns and his cousin Jey Uso screwed Shinsuke Nakamura out of a shot at the WWE Title, the self-proclaimed ‘King of Strong Style’ was up to the task to get revenge.
WWE Smackdown: Universal Title contract signing
Throughout WWE Smackdown, Roman Reign’s advocate Paul Heyman attempted to have a contract signed between the WWE Universal Champion and WWE official Adam Pearce. Pearce, a former wrestler, was less than enthused. After Heyman was unsuccessful, Pearce and Reigns met face to face in the middle of the ring to close the show.

As expected, Roman Reigns bullied his way into the face of Pearce, doing his best to have the former NWA Champion sign a contract to wrestle him at the Royal Rumble. With hesitation, Pearce signed the contract. Reigns, with a smirk on his face, followed just moments later. However, Pearce stood up and told Reigns “I’ve waited all night for you to do that.” Pearce then walked up the ramp, grabbed a microphone, and claimed he had an old injury that will prevent him from wrestling at the Royal Rumble. Then in a shocker to end the show, Pearce announced that Reign’s new opponent at the PPV will be none other than Kevin Owens.
Nakamura vs Uso
While Shinsuke Nakamura was down for the count on last week’s WWE Smackdown, the ‘King of Strong Style’ took out his aggression on Jey Uso in a highly competitive contest. Nakamura took control of Uso, wearing him down with his signature kicks. Within moments, Nakamura’s tag team partner Caesro joined the commentary booth to show support while also announcing that he will be entering the Royal Rumble match.
A motivated Nakaura picked up the win after connecting with a Kinshasa to Uso. Solid match to kick off the show as Nakamura’s babyface push continues, call it ***.
The Smackdown Undercard
Rey Mysterio is a legend and even in his 40s can deliver a performance that matches nearly everyone else on the roster. On last week’s Friday Night Smackdown, ‘King’ Baron Corbin attacked both Rey Mysterio and his son Dominick. Despite this, Mysterio failed to get his revenge after Corbin hit the End of Days the win. **

Caesro then took on Daniel Bryan in the WWE Smackdown match of the night. Cesaro got the upset victory after hitting the Swiss Death and then the Neutralizer. ***1/4
Elsewhere on WWE Smackdown, Natalya defeated Liz Morgan after a miscommunication from Billie King in about a * match. Apollo Crews then picked up a win over Sami Zayn in questionable fashion. After his win, Crews got into a shouting match with Intercontinental Champion Big E. A match between the two is expected in the coming months. **
Baily debuted her new talk show segment “Ding Dong, Hello!” with her first guest being Bianca Belair which quickly spiraled out of control into cringe-worthy territory, as they set up a special obstacle course challenge between the two on next week’s WWE Smackdown.
Hey do you no when is seth rollins going to be fully Stuff to Compete on Smackdown again ?
