Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving is known for his dedication and focus on basketball. At one point, the NBA penalized him after not participating in interviews. According to Kyrie, he wanted to focus more on his game instead of answering questions. Now, Kyrie’s focus might have slipped after a clip of him partying surfaced online. It’s no secret that the NBA has strict Covid-19 protocols. Due to this, Kyrie had to sit out for a week while the NBA investigates his party video.
NBA: Kyrie Irving Went Partying
In a social media post, a fan shared a clip of maskless Kyrie Irving partying with a group of people. The clip was later explained as a birthday celebration with his family. Apparently, Kyrie has missed four consecutive games. The Nets previously explained that Kyrie is dealing with his mental health and personal issues. However, his recent actions show no indications of being bothered. Kyrie has yet to reveal his statements regarding his party video.
Kyrie’s Former Teammate Isn’t Happy With His Party Video
Kyrie Irving’s former teammate Richard Jefferson opened up about his thoughts on Kyrie’s recent actions. According to him, “If you’re unhappy for whatever reason, get the help, get the happiness that you need.” He also said, “We’re not trying to take away from your activism if you need time off. But also, if you need time off, then go get it. But right now, it’s just a bad look.”
Jefferson is known to be a close friend of Kyrie. However, it appears that Jefferson won’t tolerate Kyrie’s recent actions. He also wants Kyrie to at least communicate with his teammates during his absence. “But you’ve got to communicate with your team, your teammates”, he said. Jefferson also explained Kyrie’s recent actions as “very selfish.”
NBA: NBA Investigates Kyrie’s Party Video
According to the NBA, they are aware of Kyrie Irving’s party video. “We are reviewing the circumstances with both Kyrie and the NBA in order to determine compliance with health and safety protocols”, the NBA said. Apparently, Kyrie is still unvaccinated, which puts him at very high risk for Covid-19 especially when attending a huge gathering. The NBA has yet to reveal Kyrie’s penalty. However, Houston Rockets star James Harden was required to get six negative results from Covid-19 after he was seen partying with a large crowd. Due to this, fans can expect the same for Kyrie.
The Brooklyn Nets will face the New York Knicks on January 14, 2021.
