Fans have been waiting for LeMelo Ball’s first game against his brother Lonzo Ball. Now, it finally happened and the Ball brothers did not disappoint. The New Orleans Pelicans and Charlotte Hornets are some of the most popular teams this season. One of the main reasons is how both teams have improved so much throughout the years. The Pelicans are now led by the dynamic duo, Lonzo Ball and Zion Williamson. On the other hand, the Hornets is home to this year’s 3rd overall draft pick LaMelo Ball, who’s been one of the most popular rookies this season.
NBA: LaMelo & Lonzo Puts On A Show
Despite being a rookie, LaMelo Ball outscored his brother Lonzo Ball in their first matchup. During the 3rd quarter with only a few seconds left, LaMelo hits a step-back three-pointer in front of Lonzo. LaMelo also shows that he can go head-to-head with his brother above the rim. LaMelo scored 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 9 assists. Meanwhile, his brother Lonzo scored 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists. LaMelo was 1 assist away from becoming the youngest NBA player ever to record a triple-double. The Hornets defeated the Pelicans with a score of 118-110.
LaMelo Swatted Away By Teammate Bismack Biyombo
After the game, Charlotte Hornets center Bismack Biyombo raised some eyebrows after he swatted away his teammate LaMelo Ball. The clip shows LaMelo celebrating their win but when he tries to get near Biyombo, he got pushed away. Apparently, LaMelo passed the ball to his teammate Miles Bridges when there were only a few seconds left in the shot clock.
Fans think that LaMelo was trying to get his 10th assists to record his first triple-double. It’s also believed to be one of the main reasons why Biyombo went mad at LaMelo for thinking about his stats. It’s no secret that Biyombo is one of LaMelo’s mentors. At one point, LaMelo said that Biyombo is like a big brother to him.
NBA: Fans Want More Playing Time For LaMelo
Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball has been putting on a show early in the season. However, he’s still a rookie which means that he’s going to play with limited minutes. A lot of players have faced minutes restriction during their rookie year. One of which is Zion Williamson, who only played 27.8 minutes per game during his rookie year.
Now, fans are begging the Hornets to put LaMelo in the starting lineup and give him more minutes. The Hornets’ social media page is already filled with fans asking for the team to increase LaMelo’s playing time. One fan said, “START MELO OMG WHY WOULD YOU NOT START YOUR 3rd pick?!?” Another fan also said, “Melo really could of had a Triple-Double and the W but this coach wants to sub him out… feels like the coach is he’s biggest hater.”
The Charlotte Hornets will face the Atlanta Hawks on January 10, 2021.
