Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been dominating over the past few games. He won the NBA Rookie of the Year award last season, proving that he’s one of the future stars in the league. Unfortunately, Morant will miss several weeks this season due to his ankle injury. Apparently, Morant suffered a left ankle sprain during their game against the Brooklyn Nets last Monday. Morant’s aggressive playstyle has been worrying the fans as it’s arguably one of the most dangerous playstyles in the league.
NBA: Ja Morant To Miss 3 to 5 Weeks
According to Memphis Grizzlies, Ja Morant suffered a left ankle sprain and will miss 3 to 5 weeks. During the 3rd quarter of their game against the Brooklyn Nets, Morant tried to block Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot’s 3-pointer but ended up landing on Luwawu-Cabarrot’s foot. After that, Morant hopped out of the court screaming in pain. He was later taken back to the locker room in a wheelchair. Now, the Grizzlies revealed that they will have to sit out Morant for a few weeks after his MRI detected a Grade 2 left ankle sprain. The Grizzlies defeated the Nets despite Morant’s early departure with a score of 111-116. Morant also left the court with a score of 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Ja Morant’s Playstyle Makes Him Susceptible To Injuries
Ja Morant is one of the most explosive players in the league today. A lot of fans are saying that he’s the new Derrick Rose of the NBA. However, it appears that he’s also following Rose’s history of injuries. Apparently, Rose’s explosiveness led him to multiple injuries which almost ended his career. It’s no secret that explosiveness is one of Morant’s specialties. However, fans are worried that it could lead to a lot of injuries which could end his career early. Morant started the season strong. He scored 44 points in his season opener game against the San Antonio Spurs, making him the youngest player in the NBA to score 40 points in a season opener.
NBA: Memphis Grizzlies Struggled Early In The Season – Will They Survive Without Morant?
The Memphis Grizzlies currently has a 1-2 record. They lost back-to-back games before winning against the Brooklyn Nets last Monday. Apparently, Ja Morant has been carrying the team with his unstoppable offense. Now, the Grizzlies will have to play without Morant for a couple of weeks. Fans think that they will struggle in the offense as they don’t have much firepower besides Morant. At this point, fans can only hope that Kyle Anderson and Jonas Valanciunas will step up to carry the team as they wait for Morant’s return.
