The 2020-2021 NBA regular season starts in a few hours and teams are already preparing for their season opener. The 2020-2021 season opener features a lot of good matchups. One of which is the defending champions Los Angeles Lakers going against the Los Angeles Clippers. The season opener will also feature a lot of returning superstars, such as Kawhi Leonard, Lebron James, Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie Irving. Fans are also eager to see how the Golden State Warriors adjust after losing one of their best scorers, Klay Thompson.
NBA Season Opener: All-New Lakers Going Against Determined Clippers
The Los Angeles Lakers traded JaVale McGee and Danny Green during the offseason and lost Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo via free agency. It’s no secret that these players helped Los Angeles win its 17th championship. Now, the Lakers’ lineup is almost entirely new. They acquired Marc Gasol, Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell, and Wesley Matthews during the offseason. The Lakers were voted as the team that made the best moves during the offseason.
Now, the all-new Lakers are going to face the more determined Los Angeles Clippers. Recently, the Clippers revealed that they’re going to play their superstar Kawhi Leonard in a triangle offense similar to Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. However, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are also showing signs that they’re ready for a back-to-back championship run. The Lakers will face the Clippers in the season opener tomorrow at 10:00 p.m. ET.
Stephen Curry Faces Kevin Durant & Kyrie Irving In Season Opener
The Golden State Warriors are already facing problems before the regular season starts. One of which is Klay Thompson’s injury, which forces him to sit out for the rest of the season. However, the Warriors still managed to end their preseason strong. Stephen Curry is showing no signs of giving up as he carried his team to a 3-1 preseason record. Now, Curry and the Warriors will be facing the Brooklyn Nets led by Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
It’s no secret that Durant is a former teammate of Curry. However, despite him leaving the Warriors, Durant made it clear that he still loves them. He also revealed that he never blamed them for his season-ending injury. The Warriors will face the Nets tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. ET.
NBA: Lakers Predicted To Win Championship Next Season
The 2020-2021 GM survey revealed that Giannis Antetokounmpo might win his third straight NBA MVP. However, the NBA GMs also believe that the Los Angeles Lakers will win the championship. Meanwhile, Giannis’ team, the Milwaukee Bucks, were nowhere near the Lakers’ overall votes. Due to this, fans think that the same scenario of last season might just repeat itself, where Giannis wins the MVP and the Lakers win the championship.
The NBA 2020-21 season starts Tuesday.
