Anna Leikovic of Moldova is what social media terms an influencer. Anna is a medical school graduate that enjoyed a large following on Instagram. Local police charged the twenty-one-year-old for the murder of her mother, Praskovya Leikovic.
The Crime of Murder
Praskovya Leikovic was found dead in her home with her heart, lungs and intestines ripped from her body. The attack on Praskovya was perpetrated with a kitchen knife. The reports state that Praskovya was still alive when her organs were removed but died from her injuries soon afterward. The police arrested Anna Leikovic as the prime suspect. They believe that after killing her mother Anna also cut up her organs. After the crime took place, Anna is said to have showered and left the house to meet her boyfriend.
Lyubov Yanak, a spokeswoman for the local Moldova police made the following statement. “The detainee is the main suspect. There is no likelihood of other suspects. A thorough investigation is required to clarify the motive for the murder.”
What could the reason be?
Police have not yet determined the motive in this case. But there is speculation by multiple sources. Local news outlets believe Praskovya learned that her daughter was using drugs. They reported Praskovya returned to Moldova from a business trip to Germany and learned of the drug abuse. Several news outlets have speculated that Praskovya confronted Anna and was arranging for her daughter to receive treatment. Some outlets have speculated that Praskovya became violent with Anna. However, some people believe Anna was framed for the murder. But all of this is speculation.
The brutality of Prakovya’s murder has shocked people everywhere. But those most surprised are her own family members. Anna’s uncle, Vladamir, said Prakovya loved Anna and she had not arranged for Anna to go to rehab. “This was a very good family. Praskovya loved her daughter so much, and she spent as much time with her as she could. It took two hours for the police to tell me Anna is the main suspect. I could not even imagine this.”
The aftermath
When Anna appeared in court to face charges against her she appeared bored and uninterested in the proceedings. Anna appeared in court wearing a facemask and at one point she laid down on a bench and cleaning her nails. Anna also stood on the bench and made peace signs to the camera; appearing for all the world to have no remorse or even grief over her mother’s murder. People indicated that the brutality of the murder indicates psychological issues, and Anna did not appear to care about proving her innocence.

When a reporter asked Anna if she had killed her mother Anna laughed and only said, “goodbye”. Anna continued laughing until she was escorted from the courtroom.
The response to Anna
In the wake of Praskovya’s murder, Anna’s Instagram account received upwards of 6000 new followers. Her Instagram posts also indicate that she enjoys an affluent lifestyle. Though she may have gained followers the comments posted to her account have been vastly negative. Thousands of people have called Anna a murderer and are explicit about their disgust at her alleged crime. However, there are some followers that have reserved judgment. One fan even said, “You have no proof; everyone is innocent until proved otherwise.
And one comment stands out among the rest; using this situation to explain the dangers of idolizing social media influencers. “This is why you don’t idolize these strangers and “influencers” on social media. Some of these people are psychos, drug addicts, rapists, pedos, all the while trying to present to the average person what a successful lifestyle looks like.”
Although the case is ongoing and police are being thorough in their investigation Anna Leikovic remains the prime and currently only suspect.
