Most NBA preseason games feature almost no physicality and very light defense. It’s because it was meant for teams to showcase their rookies before their superstars take over in the regular season. However, this year’s 2020-2021 NBA preseason games offer more physicality and superstars are playing more often. One of which is the Milwaukee Bucks power forward, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who received a cut to his eyebrows during his first preseason game against the Dallas Mavericks.
Now, Giannis is looking for revenge with his second game against the Mavericks. However, he and his team fell short against the non-stop scoring of Luka Doncic. Meanwhile, the defending champions Los Angeles Lakers might have scored another jackpot with their 46th overall draft pick from 2019.
NBA: Giannis Bloodied After Accidental Elbow To Face
The preseason opener of the Milwaukee Bucks and Dallas Mavericks area already filled with intense physicality. Two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered an eye injury just two minutes into the game. The replay shows Mavericks’ Dorian Finney-Smith accidentally elbowing Giannis’ face as they both attempted to rebound. Giannis fell to the floor and holds his head for a few seconds before the Bucks called a timeout. The Bucks lost to the Mavericks in their first match with a score of 112-102.
Now, Giannis faces the Mavericks once again with a small plaster on his left eyebrow. Unfortunately for the Bucks, they can’t seem to stop Luka’s offense as he leads the Mavericks to another win with a score of 112-128. Luka scored 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists in only 29 minutes of playing.
Dallas Mavericks Looking Ready
With Dallas Mavericks defeating the team of the reigning MVP twice. Fans think that they’re ready to reach the top next season. The Mavericks were eliminated during the first round of the western conference playoffs against the Los Angeles Clippers. However, fans were able to see what Donic is capable of. He managed to put up huge numbers despite losing against the Clippers. With the Mavericks looking healthy, fans are expecting that they can finally push through the playoffs and hopefully reach the finals.
NBA: Talen Horton-Tucker’s Eye-Opening Preseason Debut
Los Angeles Lakers’ Talen Horton-Tucker has been making headlines after his incredible back-to-back games. Apparently, Horton-Tucker was the 46th overall draft pick by the Lakers back in 2019. However, he spent his last season playing in the G-league. Now, it appears that Horton-Tucker doesn’t want to waste the opportunity that the Lakers gave him. During his preseason debut, he scored 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
He also showed consistency with his second game where he managed to score 33 points against the Los Angeles Clippers. LeBron James was also seen on the Lakers bench celebrating Horton-Tucker’s amazing performance. With Horton-Tucker showcasing his talents, fans are expecting him to play bigger roles during the regular season.
The NBA 2020-21 season will begin on Tuesday, December 22.
