Miley Cyrus Fans are up in arms after her label accidentally sabotaged her latest album release. The gaffe potentially cost her millions in first-week album sales.
Miley Cyrus Has Some Very Unhappy Fans
Pop Songstress had a less than fabulous sales week after the drop of her most recent album Plastic Hearts. After months of marketing and the release of several singles, fans would be left disappointed on the album release date.
According to People shortly after the official ‘drop’ of her album on November 27, Miley noticed that fans were hitting social media to let her know there was a problem. Posts came flying in through Twitter and Instagram from upset fans. They could not get their hands on the physical copies of the album.
What Happened with the Plastic Hearts Release Date?
According to Miley and her team, they had planned for the Plastic Hearts album to release to the public on Black Friday, November 27th. The news had long been released to fans and with the drop day also coinciding with the biggest shopping month of the year – especially for entertainment – the songstress and label were expecting a phenomenal first week of sales. Unfortunately – it didn’t quite go down that way.
Apparently, despite November 27th being the official album release date, there appears to have been some miscommunication. No one let her team in on the fact that most major retailers, including Walmart and Target, do not stock physical copies of new albums on Black Friday. In fact, they would find out that most retailers would not even receive their shipment of the albums until almost two weeks later.
Miley Cyrus Apologizes to Angry Fans
The 28-year-old entertainer appeared to be as upset and disheartened by her label’s botched release as her fans. When Miley found out fans were unable to get their hands on the album, she tweeted out a special apology.
Miley assures fans that she is equally as disappointed by the misstep. She tells fans in the post that she is proud of the album she cannot wait to share it with her audience.
Miley’s Fans Stand By Her & She’s Grateful
Despite the huge flub in the planning for her recent album release, Miley’s fans are standing with her. While they are in fact, angry about the situation – they understand that it is out of her control and have rallied on Twitter to send words of encouragement to the artist, letting her know that they are on her side. In response to her apology regarding the delayed album shipments, one fan tweeted, “we’ve been here since 2006, and no matter what happens we will be by your side forever and ever”
Another fan tweeted, “miley we love u so so much, I’m so sorry this is happening to you, plastic hearts already deserves a better treatment, you made your best album yet, I’m sorry”
In turn, Miley says that she appreciates the overwhelming support. She thanks her long-time fans for standing by her through everything.
Miley tells them that she is more grateful ‘can properly articulate.’
A Growing Discography
Plastic Hearts marks Miley’s 7th studio album. At 28, Miley has released nearly half as many albums as her famous Country legend father, Billie Ray Cyrus.
This album has so far been well received by fans and includes 15 tracks including recently released singles from this year Midnight Sun, Hate Me and Prisoner. The album is also big on mashups and collaborations, featuring vocal appearances by Billy Idol, Dua Lipa, and Stevie Nicks.
